(Randi Thompson/NFIB) – We commend Governor Sandoval’s fundamental understanding that the only way to improve our economy is to get business growing again—especially small business. His proposals for job retraining and job growth are critical to getting our economy moving again.
He correctly pinpointed that roughly 80 percent of new jobs will be created by local businesses, and we applaud his appreciation of the fact they have been struggling with increased health insurance premiums and rising unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation rates.
His unveiling of bold reforms of education, public pensions, government operations, and economic development tell us he intends to take the clear and present dangers facing Nevada head on, and doesn’t intend to shy away from the most important task at hand: Getting Nevada’s own affairs in order before expecting businesses to feel comfortable enough to start expanding and creating jobs.
NFIB supports the Governor’s action of freezing and reviewing all regulations and sun-setting all state boards and commissions by 2013. This will help streamline the regulatory process for business immensely. Small business is ready to work with the governor to achieve the goals he outlined in his state-of-the-state speech.”
