(Cynthia Kennedy) – A recent Reno Gazette-Journal article, like so many, was written with a high degree of selectivity, which is a polite way of saying the writer left out a lot of facts:
1. The Governor scheduled two events on the date of Wahoe’s fundraising dinner, and he decided to drop Washoe. I believe he used the radio show as a lame excuse. Tabor & Dickman did not lead the radio discussion as the writer stated, they were a part of the discussion & were not in any kind of control over what the other commentors said.
Tabor & Dickman said nothing offensive about women, but the Governor & the press choose to paint them as women haters.
2. I was present when Assemblyman Jim Wheeler gave his talk to the Storey County GOP, over TWO MONTHS ago. That youtube video got a couple dozen views & then some pot stirrer saw it & decided to try to ruin Wheeler.
He said NOTHING wrong & he never said he was for slavery or wanted to bring it back. But, you wouldn’t know that by the press, or Govenor or Senator Heller. They shot from the hip & now all of Wheeler’s supporters, of which there are many, wouldn’t give you a nickle for Sandoval or Heller.
3. I am a State Central Committee member & I attended the meeting in Las Vegas where Chairman McDonald was re-elected. The pitch Robert Uithoven made for election as Chair was SHAMEFUL!!! It was a case of, “I’ve got the money, so you BETTER elect ME!” He’s done NOTHING for party unity, but just ran a nasty, underhanded campaign against McDonald, who’s done an excellent job.
Know how that makes the Governor look to the dedicated Republicans who are the grassroots and the foundation of what should be Sandoval’s electorate? It makes Sandoval look like someone who wants to be Kingmaker, but never get his hands dirty. He looks like someone who supports RINO cronies.
When was the last time we saw the Governor at a State Republican function? The only time I can remember is when he ran for the party nomination for Governor, and he was husting for votes at our meeting in Hawthorne. That was YEARS ago!
The Governor, with the help of the press, is doing his best to divide the party. But, the people who are involved with the party and know the truth, can’t help but be disappointed by his actions as they are working AGAINST the Governor and not for him.
4. Former Washoe GOP Chairman Dave Buell was kicked out of office because he gave Washoe money to Clark. How would you like it if your County Chair didn’t even support candidates in your own county? Good candidates who really needed the financial support.
The writer left that little item out. Buell was going to get a dressing down at the state Central Committee meeting in Pahrump of last year, but instead he stayed home & twittered obnoxious remarks about the meeting.
