(Chuck Muth) – Assemblyboobs David Gardner, Derek Armstrong and Stephen Silberkraus ran in 2014 as conservatives who opposed tax hikes. They went on to vote for the largest tax hike in state history.
As a result, all three RINOs drew serious primary challengers. And in those primaries, the conservative challengers and outside organizations made sure the voters of their districts knew each had betrayed them and lied to get elected in 2014.
On Tuesday, Gardner got crushed 55-44%, five months after conservative challenger Diana Orrock softened him up with GOP voters.
Truth is, Gardner was such a bad candidate and was beaten so badly he probably would have lost even if conservatives hadn’t abandoned him – or rather, if he hadn’t abandoned conservatives.
The same, however, can’t be said of Armstrong. He lost by just over 1,000 votes out of more than 25,000 cast.
Without a doubt, the primary campaign back in June exposed this tax-hiking RINO to conservative GOP voters who either opted not to vote for either candidate in his race or, like me, outright supported his Democrat opponent.
I’d rather have an honest Democrat than a lying Republican. Apparently, so did a lot of conservative voters in his district.
Ditto Silberkraus. He lost his re-election bid by just 194 votes.
This tax-hiking weenie was also softened up big time in the primary by the spirited challenge of Amy Groves, who made sure conservatives knew he lied to them about opposing tax hikes.
So the Three RINOs, who rightfully and deservedly got beat up in primary races against conservative challengers, went down in flames and were wiped out of office.
Had they not betrayed their constituents and their party’s principles, they probably wouldn’t have had tough primaries and might have won re-election.
But actions have consequences – and bad actions have bad consequences. Good riddance. Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out!
