You often hear people ask, “Why can’t we get good people to run for office?”
Well, here’s one reason…
To set the stage, I filed to run for Nevada State Assembly District 19 this month.
My husband’s name is Mike – and we don’t have children.
But we do have two bulldogs named “Emma” and “Sturgis” that we love very much.
In fact, we named our ice cream parlor in Sturgis, SD, after Emma.
Now, before I go any further, be advised that the following text messages I received this weekend include some EXTREMELY vulgar language.
I’m masking the profanities with *’s, but they were spelled out in the original texts.
Still, if this sort of language will upset you, please stop reading NOW and accept my apology.
Ready?
OK, here’s how “Amber” started out her text string to me…
“Fat ass c*nt rude b*tch”
Wow! Welcome to politics, right?
Amber continued (grammar in the original)…
“B*tch. You a Trump supporting. Racist. Ice loving. Sick individual. God has plans that you never had kids for a reason. You sick b*tch. Hope your dogs aid you when your dying you fat gross b*tch.”
What a charmer. Next…
“You need mental help for never being able to have children so you use dogs as children. You’re a racist condensing as ugly b*tch and to settle for mikes small ass little d*ck is gross.”
To that, I’ll only say that Mike is a Vietnam War veteran and retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major of the 5th Special Forces Group.
And I’m proud as hell of him!
I’ll also note that in the back, behind our ice cream parlor, is Mike’s “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” taphouse/tavern honoring military veterans.
Onward…
“I’m glad god never gave you children that’s your karma for being a racist ass sloppy self entitled ass b*tch.”
I wonder if Amber kisses her mom with that mouth?
Now here’s the kicker…
SHE’S A THIRD-GRADE TEACHER!
Sadly, this is the sort of thing Republicans have to put up with in today’s toxic political environment, driven by deep, unrestrained hatred for President Trump.
And I completely understand why others choose not to become candidates in this cesspool.
Of course, that’s exactly what the loud and angry “Ambers” on the unhinged left want.
They do this stuff to discourage conservatives from running for office.
They bully. They smear. They try to intimidate us into backing down or never running at all.
But she’s barking (pun intended) up the wrong tree with me.
All she’s done with her profane and insulting rant is steel my nerves and double my resolve.
The attacks won’t stop. But neither will I.
Bottom line: I’m not backing down!
If people like this are this angry now, imagine how they’re gonna feel on Election Night after we win.
