Alan Stock and Jill Douglass take aim at Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford during their discussion of the government shutdown.
Douglass says Ford offers plenty of excuses but few solutions, pointing to his frequent absences and lack of leadership. She also warns against government control of healthcare, calls out the cost of illegal immigration, and blames progressive policies for making life harder and more expensive for everyday Americans.

So let’s talk a briefly, a couple things I want to talk about. One of them, though, is a Ron Ford. I always say that because I don’t want to take any A’s away from him. He’s not sure how many he wants to pronounce so we give
Jill Douglass 1:03
our like, absentee traveling, frequent traveler, Attorney General,
Alan Stock 1:10
Yeah, that guy. He’s on vacation about a third of the year. He’s got a pushing job. I’m gonna run for attorney general. I think I’ll take a third of the year off. This is a great, great, great job about it, but third of the year off is, I don’t think he knows squat about it, either. He’s gone so much, but he has, he’s come out, and he said some weird things. Let me just say this in advance. I know this is an editorial concept, but let me just say he does not offer anything positive in his criticisms of Trump or Lombardo or anything Republicans are doing. Democrats in general are criticizing Republicans, but they are not offering any solutions, except for one, and that was mom, Donnie in New York, and his solutions and what he’s offering should make anyone’s hair in the back of their neck stand up so but a Ron for let’s talk about him. He criticizes Donald Trump for taking food out of kids mouths. Trump is off building ballrooms while children in Nevada eat stale candy bars for dinner. Now, I mean, I understand the optics and all of that, but that is so much bull crap. I’ll let you go ahead and take it from there.
Jill Douglass 2:36
Well, I mean, let’s, let’s get serious here. This this guy, Aaron Ford, he’s ridiculous. He spews his stuff, and you’re right. He offers no solutions, and he’s overly dramatic. First of all, Trump is not taking anything away from anybody. He’s actually trying to help people have opportunity and get better, right? So the notion that we’re taking food away from people, there’s no substance to that. It’s a shame that the government has shut down. In fact, on Monday, I was at a protest in front of Jackie Rosen’s office at the Federal Building, saying, Stop the shutdown. It’s unnecessary. Government needs to get back to work and do the work of the people. And an A Ron Ford actually needs to just do what he’s supposed to do, which is protect the citizens of Nevada as the attorney general. But, you know, we don’t want anyone to go hungry, but there are, there are multiple avenues, even if the government is shut down, to ensure that people are fed. There are so many charities, so many churches, so many so much availability out there to help people to ensure that families and children do not go hungry. Nobody wants children to go hungry, but but his claiming that, the claims that he makes, he’s all about fear mongering, you know, and and sob stories. He has no substance whatsoever. He has no solutions. He’s He’s a totally ineffective Attorney General. What is he doing to protect Nevadans? He’s done nothing. He just sets around a third of the time he’s not even in the state he’s traveling. So you know, he he’s totally ineffective in his current role. He will be totally ineffective in any future roles. And while talking about hungry children. Certainly tugs at our heartstrings. He’s totally misinformed.
Alan Stock 4:48
Well, also he mixes metaphors when he talks about the building, ballrooms and children eating stale candy for bar for dinners. I mean, let’s just be very, very clear the ballroom. Assume that is, I have a list here, by the way, of presidents going back 150 years or more, that have adjusted the White House in one way or another, including more recent presidents like Obama and Truman and I go Kennedy, I go on and on with all of the presidents who have done something to the White House, and Trump’s beautiful, big, beautiful ballroom, and I’ve seen renderings of it is going to be paid for with private funds. So this has nothing to do with shutdowns or with anything in the whole world. I mean, it’s totally separate. So to even bring that up is a misnomer. And the idea that supposedly, when he grew up, he had to exist on eating some candy bar and stuff like that. I mean, again, people have the opportunities to get food through food banks and and the like. Sometimes I know that when people get food from snap and things like that. They wind up buying a lot of food that not the healthiest. Let’s put it that way. And so, I mean, that’s not the fault of any politician, unless they want to try to regulate what they can buy, and that may not be a bad idea either. Here’s what I want to do. I want I’m going to take a quick break, but I want to come on back, and I want to talk about the shutdown, because I think that’s important. People are trying to and I think that part of the reason Republic, part of the reason Republicans lost this last Tuesday, the various elections, obviously blue states. But the other reason possibly because the media very sympathetic with the Democrats in the shutdown. And I think that is a misnomer as well. And I want to talk about that with you, Jill Douglas, joining us, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party. And we’re going to continue in just a moment, right here on Vegas at eight, our good friend, Jill Douglas, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party and Jill. Thanks so much for being with us. I do appreciate it. I want to talk about the shutdown briefly. Of the people are saying, well, Republicans are the majority and the House and the Senate, and all they have to do is give in to the Democrats. But Democrats are wanting Republicans to do what they refused to do in 2022 when they could have extended this Obamacare subsidy forever, but they know it’s a bad thing would cost trillions over the years, and instead, they decide to punt it and see what would happen down the line. Now they want these subsidies, which only goes to prove, actually, in my mind, that Obamacare was a bust from the beginning, right?
Jill Douglass 7:48
I mean, you do not want the government involved in your health care. Let’s just be very, very straight about you don’t want the government involved with your health care, and that’s why costs are going up. When you get the government involved. Costs are going up. It’s not effective. It’s not efficient. Keep the government out of our health care. But along that point as well, our system is not set up to provide health care for 10 million illegal citizen, illegal immigrants. We have to focus on the needs of our citizens, not those that are here illegally. So it’s so shocking that the Democrats who voted for these resolutions previously will now not vote for them, and they want to, want to want to act like it’s the Republicans. No Republicans have voted for this. The government shut down right now. It’s not the Republican shutdown. It’s a Democrat shutdown. There is no reason, yeah, there’s no reason for them not to vote for this.
Alan Stock 8:54
Republicans want to open it up. And by the way, Bob illegals. They say, well, that money does not go to illegals. What happens is states like California and New York, of course, they turn around and give a lot of their own money over to illegals, then turn around and use those federal dollars to fill in the blanks that they use to give to the illegal aliens. So it may not be directly going to illegals, but they are using it indirectly to to to help illegals out. And this bothers me so much, because, you know, Joe Biden opened the gates to illegals for four years, and Trump closed that gate, but now it’s up to the Trump administration to be able to ferret these people out and to get them out of our society, because they are becoming a burden in our society. Some that are working and low key, that’s one thing, but the ones that aren’t, that are causing trouble and that are criminals, they’ve got to be taken out, and they’re being instead hidden. By places like California, New York and other well, sanctuary cities as well, right? Alan
Jill Douglass 10:06
Americans are a very, very caring, generous society, but, but at some point you just have to say, if you’re here illegally, you are a drain on the system. You are using our health care. You are going into our emergency rooms, you are going into our schools and, you know, and, and, and there that comes at a cost. So these progressive policies are dangerous, you know, and and costly. And you know, where does that cost fall back on? It falls back on the taxpayers and and we have to be realist and say we cannot. We cannot provide health care. We cannot provide everything for the entire world, you know, and we do have to put our citizens first, and there has to be a legal mechanism for people to come into our country. You cannot have 10 million people that just come across the border because they want to. And what are they fleeing? They’re fleeing supposedly socialist countries. And now we look at New York and we’re like, what are you doing? Like, how can you justify his his acceptance speech showed who he was. Absolutely he is. He is a progressive socialist Muslim. He makes no apologies for it. He wants to change what our country was founded on and what has made us a great nation. He
Alan Stock 11:46
is a communist, is what he really is.
Jill Douglass 11:48
Aaron Ford falls right into that woke progressive agenda,
Alan Stock 11:52
absolutely the case. Absolutely the case. And you know what? The again, the proof of of everything we’re saying lies in that little thing that they have said, which, again, the one of the Heritage media doesn’t want to talk about, but they have said over and over and over again Democrat leaders that they are using this shutdown as what, as a leverage. That’s their word, not mine, not yours. They say they’re using it as a leverage to get things they want. They don’t care about the pain it’s causing the people, because they have a political agenda. They want to be initiated. And how do they get that? They’re using people as their leverage,
Jill Douglass 12:41
their words. I went into the federal courthouse on Monday to try to go up to Jackie Rosen’s office. Her people came down to meet me. They wouldn’t even let me go up to her office, but I told them, it is not right to use people as leverage. People need their paychecks. These individuals in Washington, DC that are wealthy, Jackie Rosen is immensely rich. She’s rich. Rosen, right and and to to put hard working people who live paycheck to paycheck, to to stop those paychecks is just wrong. Like, figure out your differences at another time. Do not leverage the American people, hard working people who need their paychecks. This is just so wrong. No,
Alan Stock 13:34
that’s right. Let me just say one last thing, and that is that that Republicans have said, open it up to stop the pain of the to the people, and we will talk about all these issues. So you know, we’ll discuss it, but let’s open it up and stop the pain that you’re causing people. And that goes back to Jackie Rosen. That goes back to Captain Cortez Masto, who did initially vote to open it up. I’m not sure where she’s at right now, but Jackie Rosen has not voted to open it up. She doesn’t mind the pain that she’s causing the people of Nevada. Jill, Douglas, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party. You can find her writings, along with other great writers and people who are doing great investigation at Nevada news and views.com. Nevada news and views.com. Jill, thanks so much for being with us.
