And so, at the end of his career, Mark Amodei has shown his true colors. He refuses to endorse the Republican candidate for CD2, David Flippo. “No way… not my cup of tea.”
By refusing to endorse the Republican candidate, Amodei supports and advances a radical Democrat, Teresa Benitez Thompson. That is a decidedly anti-Republican thing to do.
Like Mak Amodei, Governor Lombardo supported James Settelmeyer in the primary. However, once Flippo won, Governor Lombardo quickly endorsed Flippo.
Amodei is an example of why Democrats win. Among Democrats departure from the party line is rare. To do so risks loss of endorsements and re-election funding, loss of cushy lucre for family, and raises the risk of “being primaried” by your own party at the next election. Even malignant narcissists stay in line in the Democrat party.
To be fair, the first six years of Amodei’s career were under Obama. President Trump wasn’t the leader of the Republican party yet, and Amodei got used to voting as he wanted. It was only in the first Trump presidency that Amodei faced the rigid expectation to always vote the party line, something Amodei has only done so 93% of the time.
No wonder Amodei hasn’t been invited to fly on Air Force One or to visit the White House. His defiance squandered opportunties to talk to the President directly. That isn’t Nevada first. It is Amodei’s quiet, RINO, rebellion first.
What was best for Nevada would have been to vote the Republican party line 100% of the time, and to spend time directly with the President advocating for Nevada. Thus, it isn’t surprising Amodei is helping a radical Democrat replace him. Teresa Thompson will severely harm Nevada, and undoubtedly she appreciates Amodei’s help.
The Amodei rebellion needed to go. CD2 needs a congressman who votes Republican 100% of the time, one who does not give aid and comfort to the enemy.
Truth is, Mark Amodei is a Republican in name only. His friend Settelmeyer was defeated by David Flippo, and now the outgoing congressman is throwing his toys out of the pram in a decidedly anti-Republican tantrum.
In contrast, Governor Lombardo models the perfect, pro-Republican position to take. Support who you will during the primary, and then heartily endorse the Republican who advances to the General election.
Republicans should be like Joe Lombardo.
