Amy Groves Launches 2026 Campaign for Nevada Assembly District 19

Amy Groves, a conservative small businesswoman, real estate pro, and proud “Annie Black Republican,” has officially launched her campaign for Nevada State Assembly, District 19.

Groves is running in the 2026 Republican primary with one goal: send a no-nonsense, pro-business conservative to Carson City who won’t back down when it matters.

Groves isn’t another career politician.

She’s a working Nevadan who’s lived the grind – owning a tavern, running an ice cream shop, navigating real estate deals, signing payroll checks, and battling government red tape.

“I’m running because we need stronger Republicans,” Groves said. “Conservatives who won’t fold when it’s time to say no to tax hikes, reckless spending, and heavy-handed mandates. That’s the kind of backbone I’m bringing to the fight.”

A Voice for the People, Not the Political Class

A longtime Henderson resident, Groves says she’s seen firsthand how government decisions – made by people with no business experience – drive up costs and drive out opportunity.

“I’ve hired people. I’ve dealt with state regulations. I’ve watched every single dollar,” she said. “When politicians talk about housing, taxes, and jobs without ever having created one, it shows. I’ll bring the real-world experience they lack.”

Fix the Housing Crisis Without Killing the Market

As a real estate professional, Groves is making housing affordability and supply a cornerstone of her campaign.

Her message? Nevada’s housing shortage isn’t due just to a lack of land. It’s caused by government overreach and endless red tape.

“We don’t need more restrictions. We need more homes,” Groves said. “Young families, first-time buyers, and middle-income earners are getting priced out while bureaucrats keep piling on rules that make it harder to build. That has to stop.”

She also promises to protect property rights and local control, warning against state mandates that would force high-density housing into communities that don’t want it.

No More Tax Hikes. Period.

Groves is drawing a clear line in the sand when it comes to taxes.

“Higher taxes don’t build stronger communities, they crush them,” she said. “Every dollar the government takes is a dollar a family or small business doesn’t have. I won’t just oppose new taxes. I’ll fight to roll back the ones we’ve already got.”

Groves has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and says she’ll back it up with the same commitment she brings to signing the front of her own payroll checks.

Secure Borders, Safe Streets, and Rule of Law

Groves is unapologetically tough on illegal immigration, calling it a threat to both public safety and wage stability.

She’s also standing with law enforcement, promising to back the blue while holding rogue officers accountable.

“We need legal, orderly immigration, not chaos. And we need safe neighborhoods, not policies that let violent offenders walk free,” she said.

School Choice, Parental Rights, and Conservative Values

A firm believer in school choice, Groves wants public funds to follow the student, not the system.

She says it’s time to empower parents, not bureaucrats.

“Nevada’s government schools are failing too many kids,” she said. “If you want your child in a private, charter, or alternative school, you should have that choice.”

Groves is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and fiercely opposed to what she calls “woke ideology” being pushed in the classroom.

She believes girls’ sports should be for girls – period – and that cultural common sense shouldn’t be controversial.

An Outsider, Not a Rubber Stamp

Groves says she’s running not to blend in, but to shake things up.

Inspired by former Assemblywoman Annie Black, she plans to bring the same fighting spirit to District 19.

“Annie Black showed that one bold voice can make a difference, even when the rest of the room goes quiet,” Groves said. “I’m running to be that kind of voice. Not a placeholder. Not a puppet. A real conservative with a spine.”

Groves promises to be a representative for every fiscally conservative Nevadan, especially those whose current legislators have gone silent.

“If your rep’s gone soft, I’ll be your backup,” she said. “You don’t need more excuses. You need someone who’ll vote the way they campaign.”

Annie Black has endorsed Groves, calling her “a successful business owner, a strong constitutional conservative,” and the right person to carry the torch in District 19.

Why District 19 Deserves Better

District 19 is a Republican stronghold and Groves says it’s high time it had a representative who actually reflects conservative values, which it hasn’t had since Black left the seat four years ago.

In fact, Assemblyman Toby Yurek – who resigned from the AD19 seat a few months ago – had the second worst conservative rating among Assembly Republicans in the 2025 session.

“This is a district that should lead the fight, not coast on autopilot,” she said. “Republican voters here deserve a fighter who doesn’t just wear the jersey – they play hard for the team.”

The Road Ahead: 2026 and Beyond

Groves is looking to win the GOP nomination in 2026 and take the fight to the general election. But to her, it’s not just about one seat. It’s about the future of the state.

“We’re at a turning point,” she said. “We can go down the path of more government, more taxes, more control – or we can reclaim our freedoms, our economy, and our state.

“I’m running because I believe Nevada should be a red state again and I’m ready to fight like hell to make it happen.”

Her closing message to voters:

“If you’re tired of weak-kneed politicians who campaign like conservatives but vote like Democrats, I’m asking for your support. Let’s start a new chapter in District 19. Let’s send a real conservative to Carson City.”
