Angle Goes All in for U.S. Senate Race

Angle Goes All in for U.S. Senate Race
Chuck Muth
March 10, 2010

(Sharron Angle) – It’s official! I filed to run for the U.S. Senate on March 1st to send a message to Democrats and Republicans in Washington D.C. and on Wall Street that the party is over. It’s time for Harry Reid to go.

Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has been holed up in a penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. for so long he has become oblivious to the suffering of everyday Nevadans and Americans. Nearly 3 million jobs vanished in our country since Harry Reid’s $787 billion “stimulus package” boondoggle became law.

Harry Reid’s sudden attempt to appear conservative by hyping tax-break incentives in his new jobs bill is way too little and too late.

On March 5, 2010, on the floor of the United States Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid said, “Today is a big day in America. Only 36,000 people lost their jobs today, which is really good.”

No Senator more richly deserves to be fired for falling down on the job than Harry Reid. It’s time to hand a PINK SLIP to Harry Reid.

I am “one of us”.

As a citizen legislator, a four-term Nevada State Assemblywoman, I received the Claremont Institute’s Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion in 2004 for my efforts fighting for Nevada’s constitutional rights. I went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend Nevada’s two-third legislative voting requirement for raising taxes, criticizing Governor Guinn’s attempt to nullify the state constitution by allowing a simple majority of the legislature to pass a tax increase.

I believe that action goes farther than mere words. I authored the most freedom-based home-school law in the nation for education choice, which is a model for homeschooling legislation in other states. I qualified the Nevada Property Tax Restraint Initiative as Question 5 on the 2008 ballot and sponsored a Nevada Taxpayer Bill of Rights to limit government spending.

My priority is to restore constitutional government.

“We are a constitutional republic,” I told a Las Vegas Examiner reporter recently. “That is the contract with America. Everybody says we need a new contract. No, we have a good contract and basically we need people who are willing to keep their oath. I’ve taken that oath of office to defend and support the constitution of Nevada and the United States….we have to put people in (office) that are unwilling to pass laws that are unconstitutional.”

You can trust me to vote for policies that foster economic growth.

Can I win? With your help, the answer is a resounding “Yes!” Newspaper reporters and polling numbers agree with me. I lead in GOP straw polls statewide. I swept 100% of the vote in Storey County and won handily in Washoe (Reno) and Elko counties. I was also victorious in Clark County (Las Vegas) and lost by two votes in Carson County to the native son who withdrew from the race.

In all statewide polls, I defeat Harry Reid, including a March 5th poll released by Rasmussen Reports showing me leading the senator 46% – 38%.

“Dems ought not forget about pesky Sharron Angle,” Las Vegas Review-Journal publisher Sherman Frederick wrote last month on his blog. “Polls show her beating Reid, too, and she has enough of a conservative constituency that she can’t be automatically counted out of a Republican primary in which bedrock conservative values will be top of mind.”

You can make a real difference. Your financial support will send my message to return to Reagan economics to Nevada voters and will show America that I can and will defeat Harry Reid next year!
