(Assemblyman Brent Jones) – Like Donald Trump, I decided to get involved in politics and run for office because I am a fed up businessman, I own the Las Vegas based company, Real Water. Due to the direction our country was headed, I decided a couple of years ago that it’s time to make a difference. It’s time to get our country back on track.
You see, all those establishment politicians, a large majority has never signed the front of a paycheck, they have no idea what it takes to have income greater than expenses. They are good at one thing and that is spending other people’s money and doing inside crony deals. The saddest part is, they penalize those of us who actually create the jobs, those that create value for society, and those that create the opportunities. Taxing and over-regulating our businesses is killing job creation.
Until today, none of the inside Nevada politicians have been willing to endorse Mr. Trump. But I see something different in the successful businessman. I see someone that is truly connecting with the people. A doer who can make a difference. Someone who is outside of the establishment like me that cannot be bought.
I started noticing this, when my children’s babysitter began showing up to our house with a Trump T-shirt. I asked her, why are you supporting Trump? She tells me, that her whole family is, he’s great and will make a difference.
And then there is the owner of the family-operated dinner in my district, the Country Café where my family often eats breakfast. He starts telling me how great Trump is. He went on for 20 minutes and I finally had to tell him our food was getting cold to get him to stop praising Trump. Now that is enthusiasm.
Then there were the four businessmen I met with a couple of weeks ago for a business meeting. All were so excited about Trump being elected and just went on and on about how he would make America Great Again. We hardly talked actual Real Water business the entire meeting, it was all Trump.
Before I made my final decision I asked my brother-in-law, Chris Shelton, what he thought about Donald Trump. Why Chris? Well, he was on the Apprentice show during season three, and was in the Board Room seven times in a row until he finally heard “Your Fired!” Chris told me Trump is a really good guy and very competent and that he supported him wholeheartedly.
Based on these types of stories and many more, it is clearly apparent that Trump has the non-establishment energized behind him. It’s a movement!
I then decided to take a close look at his policies. Of course, there are those that are discussed in the media like the border and ISIS, but for me, there is much more. You see I tried to get Common Core removed from our State, I introduced a bill last session to do just that, but the establishment wouldn’t even bring it up for a vote. Like myself, Mr. Trump also wants to get rid of Common Core. And by the way, if there was ever a conspiracy to really dumb down our kids, Common Core is the perfect vehicle to do this.
Second, I brought a bill to eliminate the Silver State exchange, Nevada’s own mini-Obamacare. What a huge waste of money. Trump, is aggressively pushing to eliminate Obamacare. And for me, I really appreciate this.
He knows what the people want, they want what is best for them and he is willing to fight for it.
This drives the establishment crazy. What will they say next in their effort to try to bring Mr. Trump down? I imagine something like, it’s one thing to run a private company, it is another to run a government that has to get consensus.
This illegitimate concern reminded me of when I read the ‘Art of Deal ‘back when I was in college. That book is very inspiring, and if you have not read it, I suggest you do.
One chapter really jumped out in my mind, and that was the story of the Wollman Skating Rink which is right in Central Park. We all know this rink, we see it in movies all the time. Well, it wasn’t always the great rink we see in the movies. Back about 30 years ago, this rink was in total disrepair, literally. The government bureaucrats could not get it working. For years and multi-millions of dollars, they just could not get it going. So in steps Mr. Trump. Within a few short months and at about a fourth of the cost he gets it working.
So I say to the establishment, take Wollman Rink as an example of how Mr. Trump can get things done for the public. He demands, and gets results instead of excuses and cost overruns. Take a look at our National debt right now, we need someone who truly understands real business and economics!
What finally pushed me over the edge to endorse Mr. Trump? Every day I drive to work, as I pull into the parking lot of Real Water, I see a large tall beautiful gold building with a big “T” on it. The Trump tower is right across the freeway from my business. This amazing tower reminds me of how we as a country can be great again. We can get back to our roots of a hard work ethic, a culture of personal responsibility, and can-do attitude. With Mr. Donald J. Trump leading by example, setting a new political culture of our Country, we can and will, all working together, make America Great Again. That’s why today I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump to be our next President.
