Dina Titus Cries “Cruel” – but Taxpayer Dollars Aren’t Abortion Coupons

Democrats are at it again.

This time, it’s Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus, who took to X to claim that a recent Department of Veterans Affairs policy is “cruel” and will cause women veterans to die during childbirth.

That’s a serious charge. It’s also false.

What Titus and her allies are pushing is not a fact-based argument. It’s a scare tactic.

And it only works if you don’t read past the headline.

What Democrats Are Claiming

Titus says the VA’s decision will “prevent women veterans from getting lifesaving care.”

Media outlets echo that claim by calling the policy an “abortion ban,” suggesting women veterans are being denied medical treatment, even in emergencies.

That sounds terrifying. It’s also not what the policy says.

What the Policy Actually Does

The Department of Justice issued a memo clarifying a basic legal point.

The VA is a federal agency. It’s funded by taxpayers. And under long-standing federal law, it is not authorized to perform or pay for elective abortions.

That’s it.

The memo explicitly states that life-saving care is still allowed.

The VA can and will continue to treat ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, and life-threatening pregnancy complications

This is not new.

The VA itself confirmed that care for pregnant women in life-threatening situations has always been allowed and still is.

So no, women veterans are not being left to die. That claim is flat-out wrong.

The Lie by Omission

Here’s the trick Democrats are pulling.

They use the word “ban” and let people assume it means all care is blocked. They never mention that:

* The policy is about taxpayer funding

* Emergency care is explicitly protected

* The Biden-era rule was an expansion that pushed the law beyond what Congress authorized

That last part matters.

The DOJ memo states the Biden administration never had the legal authority to let the VA perform abortions in the first place. That rule was always on shaky ground.

This decision didn’t strip rights. It corrected an overreach.

Follow the Money

This isn’t about banning abortion nationwide. Even the DOJ memo doesn’t claim that.

It’s about whether taxpayer dollars should be used to pay for abortions through a federal agency.

That’s a reasonable debate. But Democrats don’t want that debate. They want panic.

So they pretend this is about women dying in delivery rooms.

If that were true, you’d hear doctors and hospitals saying emergency care has stopped.

You don’t. Because it hasn’t.

The Nevada Angle

Nevada taxpayers fund the VA.

That means Nevadans were already paying for a policy Congress never approved.

Titus didn’t complain when the Biden administration quietly expanded abortion services through the VA in 2022.

No outrage then. No warnings about the law.

Now that the expansion is being reversed, suddenly it’s “cruel.”

That’s not principle. That’s politics.

The Lie Hiding in the Headline

Here’s the simple truth Democrats don’t want voters to hear: Women veterans will still receive emergency and life-saving care.

No one is banning miscarriage treatment.

No one is blocking care for ectopic pregnancies.

No one is forcing women to risk their lives.

The only thing being blocked is the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions through a federal agency that was never authorized to do so.

So the next time someone like Titus says this policy is “cruel,” ask them one question: Why do they need to lie about what it actually does?
