Federal Court Backs Laxalt in Lawsuit that Sandoval Opposed

Federal Court Backs Laxalt in Lawsuit that Sandoval Opposed

(Office of the Attorney General) – Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt issued on Tuesday the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit upheld a district court decision blocking the implementation of the Obama Administration’s unilateral immigration order:

“After careful consideration and extensive briefing, another federal court has once again upheld the states’ injunction, illustrating that the president, like everyone else, must follow the rule of law,” said Laxalt. “Our Constitution establishes a process that must be followed when changing or creating new laws, and no one, regardless of title or position, is above the Constitution. It is encouraging to see the principles of the Constitution affirmed by a third federal court ruling in this case.”

In addition to Nevada, 25 other states that have joined the suit include: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
