Heck Addresses Appropriation Bills Passed By House

Heck Addresses Appropriation Bills Passed By House

December 16, 2011

(Washington, DC) – Today, Congressman Joe Heck made the following statement after the House passed the remaining FY 2012 Appropriation bills.

“This legislation is a victory for Nevada families,” said Congressman Joe Heck. “Both parties came together to cut government spending for the second year in a row for the first time since World War II. We also came together to provide some economic certainty and stability – there will be no talks of a government shutdown next year. The House can also finally return to a normal appropriations process, approving spending bills one at a time, after years of stop-gap measures that decayed Americans’ confidence in their elected officials.

“Our families are tightening their belts and doing more with less, forcing the government to do the same just makes sense. The opportunity to pass future spending bills in a normal manner will help increase transparency and reduce waste, fraud and abuse.”
