Mark Amodei Reacts to Biden’s Student Loan Action

Mark Amodei Reacts to Biden’s Student Loan Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mark Amodei (NV-02) today issued the following statement after the White House’s student loan executive action announcement:

“The unprecedented cynicism toward voter intelligence continues to be out of control by this Administration. Nobody knows how much this really costs. It may end up closer to a trillion dollars – it’s certainly halfway there – but it’s impossible to know because this Administration loves announcements despite the fact they don’t have any answers to how this is really going to work.

“Put aside what it is really going to cost for a minute, and ask yourself – what lengths will this Administration go to for a few votes? It doesn’t matter, apparently, if you’re in compliance with your loan presently – don’t worry about paying it off? Are you going to be taxed on what is essentially a gift from the Federal government? And for those of you who have paid off your student loans recently, and over the years – not even a thanks or a warm handshake. Responsibility is penalized.

“These are the same folks who are starving border enforcement resources in order to keep it open, and who don’t care about your energy costs, your food costs, and your household goods costs. If you think this is a partisan rant, take a look at what Nevada’s Federal Senate Delegation had to say about this latest ignore-the-facts-and-policy move by an Administration also known as “the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.” I look forward to seeing what the courts say about using COVID-based authority for this political stunt. Once again, if you’re wondering what direction this country is headed under the present leadership, here’s another example which doesn’t take a lot of study.”
