Miguel Rodrigues Enters Race For Nevada’s 1st Congressional District

Miguel Rodrigues Enters Race For Nevada’s 1st Congressional District

January 11, 2012

(Las Vegas) – Republican Dr. Miguel “Mike” Rodrigues has announced today that he is running for the United States Congress in Congressional District 1 in Nevada.

Rodrigues is in the middle of his 21st year of extensive experience in educational leadership, management, supervision and evaluation of educational personnel and programs. He has had 12 years experience in being the principal for various elementary schools throughout the Las Vegas area. He has been a faculty member at the University of Phoenix, Las Vegas Campus since 2009.

“I’ve decided to run for congress because I have an inherent drive to continually improve the state of Nevada,” Rodrigues said. “My entire career has been focused on raising standards in the classroom and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Nevada. It’s time to take that same fight to the United States Congress.”

Rodrigues also believes that his life experiences will strengthen the fiscal economy of Nevada.

“I have seen many hardworking friends and neighbors lose their jobs in the harsh economic downturn we’ve all recently faced. There needs to be more jobs created and maintained,” Rodrigues stated. “The Federal Government needs to get off the backs of small business owners and allow them to do what they do best, create jobs.”

Rodrigues, originally from Hayward, a small town in the Northern California area, moved to Southern Nevada by way of The United States Air Force. He studied Educational Administration, Musical Performance, and Opera at UNLV, and received his Bachelor of Arts from UNLV in 1984. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, UT, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from UNLV. He also earned a Master’s and Doctorate in Christian Ministry from Golden Gate Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA.

Take today’s poll: Who, if anyone, should drop out of the Republican Presidential race?
