NACC: Two community meetings set to tackle hard NV school issues – the SBAC Tests and Data Collection

NACC: Two community meetings set to tackle hard NV school issues – the SBAC Tests and Data Collection

(Nevadans Against Common Core) – To offer demonstrative information about the companies behind the testing and the implications for Nevada’s children and families, Nevadans Against Common Core has created two Community Events in Northern Nevada. John Eppolito, Founder and President of the research and education non-profit, will show a 30-minute presentation for each event, which will be followed by a forum.

The first event in Carson City will feature Theresa Catalani, a parent and a media maven, who will lead a discussion about one-to-one devices, especially in relation to Student Data Mining.

The events will be held on the following schedule:

Carson City – 6 PM, Thursday, September 24th; 911 E. Musser St. Sherriff’s Office (Ormsby Room)

Reno – 6 PM, Wednesday, September 30th; 3650 Kietzke Lane, King Buffet

Both meetings are free to the public.

John EppolitoMr. Eppolito’s presentations will include information on student data “mining,” psychological profiling, the names of some of the companies who will receive the raw data of every child who takes the SBAC test, whom the SBAC will share “any and all data collected” with, and a discussion about the rights of parents and students to their own “personally identifiable information” collected by these companies.

“If you attend one of the meetings you will learn why the children of Nevada and their data are extremely vulnerable,” Mr. Eppolito said.

Nevadans Against Common Core (NACC) is a non-profit organization, whose six board members (three Democrats: Pat Lynch, Angie Sullivan, and Don Gallimore, and three Republicans: John Eppolito, Carol Wright, and Virginia Starrett) demonstrate the truly bi-partisan nature of Common Core opposition in Nevada.
