(Richard Velotta, Las Vegas Review-Journal) – Nevadans celebrated the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19 together with the entire country, bannering the theme: “Living the Dream: The Movement Continues.” The day was an official holiday after President Ronald Reagan, in November 1983, declared every third Monday of January – the nearest day to King's birthday on January 15 – as a federal holiday to honor the King.

Nevadans highlighted the event with a parade along the streets of Las Vegas' traditional parade route that includes the streets of Coolidge, Hoover and Gass, Fourth, and Third.

Participants of the event were primarily students displaying banners and placards about the noble MLK who has left Americans with many great principles and deeds. These principles, ideals and deeds are now yearned by Americans from today's leaders.
