Nevada GOP Chair Congratulates New Democrat Party Leaders

Nevada GOP Chair Congratulates New Democrat Party Leaders

(Nevada GOP) – Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald released the following statement today regarding the selection of Sen. Mo Denis as the Democrat Party’s new Senate Leader and Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick as the Democrat Party’s new Assembly Leader.

“I’ve known and worked with both Sen. Denis and Assemblywoman Kirkpatrick for a number of years. It’s been my experience that both will not only lead their caucuses professionally and effectively, but will be far more respectful and accommodating to our party’s elected representatives than has been the case in recent sessions.

“And while I fully recognize that there will be serious philosophical differences of opinion on budgetary and other issues in the 2013 legislative session, I encourage Sen. Denis and Assemblywoman Kirkpatrick to reject the previous leadership’s ‘hide-the-ball’ tactic of waiting until the end of the session to reveal budget alternatives and tax plans that have been negotiated in secret by a small core group of legislators.

“Instead, I urge members of both parties to be open and transparent about their different proposals and have full hearings and debate in the full view of the full public from Day One, not Day One Hundred One. Not to benefit Republicans. Not to benefit Democrats. But to benefit the people, families, businesses and taxpayers of Nevada.”
