Important Message for ConservaCruisers
Veteran participants of Citizen Outreach’s “ConservaCruise” to Mexico have been down this road before. Our 2020 cruise was cancelled just days before the scheduled sailing due to COVID.
Well, here we go again.
Violence and unrest in Puerto Vallarta has resulted in a U.S. State Department issuing a security alert that includes Ensenada, the port-of-call where this year’s ConservaCruise is scheduled to stop.
Ensenada is about as far from Puerto Vallarta as Las Vegas is from Dallas, but still, caution is warranted.
Carnival is “closely monitoring” the situation and will communicate changes directly to those of us booked on the sailing scheduled for this Sunday morning. I’m told the situation is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
No cancellation has been announced at this time, but there’s a good chance shore excursions may be blocked. It’s also possible the port stop may be replaced with days-at-sea.
As of this minute, I’m still planning on making the trip. Unless Carnival officially cancels the cruise, you’d lose your money if you choose not to go. Monitor your email. Carnival will send “Cruise Life” updates or SMS alerts directly to the contact info on your booking if the itinerary changes.
It’s an unfortunate inconvenience, but it is what it is and we’ll make the best of it. Fingers crossed!
