MUTH’S TRUTHS

Veto Bait

What a complete waste of time this 2025 session of the Nevada Legislature has been. Let me give you just one example: AB588.

The bill requires that all members of the State Assembly be referred to as “Assemblymember” in state law, rather than “Assemblyman” or “Assemblywoman.”

But it goes even further. It prohibits “female members of the Assembly to have ‘Assemblywoman’ precede her name on official stationary and business cards.”

Yes, this is the *important* work the Democrat-majority Legislature focused on instead of dealing with issues such as crime, education, health care, and election reform.

All Republicans in the Senate voted against this stupid bill.

One Republican – Toby Yurek – voted for it in the Assembly.

Why? Lord knows.

Hopefully Gov. Lombardo’s veto pen has plenty of ink in it.

We’ll have more assessments on what did and didn’t happen this session in the coming days after the dust settles.

Don’t touch that dial!
