Reid Pushes Forward With Flawed Health Bill

Reid Pushes Forward With Flawed Health Bill

(National Republican Senatorial Committee) – In the wee hours of the night, Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) moved forward to invoke cloture on the Manager’s Amendment for his massive government-run health care bill, which will lead to higher taxes, massive cuts to Medicare, taxpayer-funded abortions, and higher health care premiums for Nevadans.

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Communications Director Brian Walsh issued the following statement in response to Reid’s vote Sunday evening:

“It’s no wonder that Harry Reid’s poll numbers are so bad at home, as he continues to put politics before the people of Nevada.

“In the dead of night, Harry Reid continued to force his massive government health care bill through the U.S. Senate, which slashes hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare, increases taxes for struggling families and small businesses, and still allows for taxpayer-funded abortions in America.

“Reid’s bill not only breaks President Obama’s campaign pledge that no one earning under $250,000 would see a tax increase under his Administration, but it also cuts critical funding for hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and home health care services for Nevada’s seniors.

“As he faces abysmal approval ratings at home, there’s no doubt that Harry Reid will be forced to explain why he has decided once again to put politics before his constituents as he faces an uphill bid for re-election next November.”
