Rethinking the Raggio (Over)Reaction

(Chuck Muth) – When I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong. And as it turns out, I was wrong to “agitate” for the ouster of Senate Minority Leader Bill Raggio for supporting every major tax hike in the last 20 years and for endorsing Harry Reid over Sharron Angle.

Upon learning that Sen. Raggio had been ousted from his leadership position, Sen. Harry Reid took us to the woodshed.

“In this election, Nevadans…voted to reject extremism,” Reid railed in a statement. “That some of Sen. Raggio’s Republican colleagues even considered punishing him for being on the side of the majority of Nevadans shows that they clearly missed that message and are not listening to their constituents.”

So there you have it, you fellow extremists. The lesson Tuesday wasn’t a national rejection of Democrats and their agenda – including Dina Titus, Rory Reid and ObamaCare. It was a rejection of “extremism” – meaning lower taxes, lower spending, free markets and individual liberty. Thank you, Sen. Reid, for setting us straight!

We have no choice now but to ask Senate Minority Leader Mike McGinness and his Republican colleagues to immediately convene a new caucus meeting and give Sen. Raggio his title back.

We also should apologize to Sen. Raggio for being mad at him for helping to re-elect Sen. Reid and send him some flowers and a box of chocolates to help take the sting out of our wrong-headed efforts to punish him earlier this week.
