Seen And Heard In Kansas City

Seen And Heard In Kansas City

(Lori Piotrowski) – The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) took Kansas City by storm last weekend, and they made an impact on the city’s residents. Many visited the World War I Museum and Memorial, the only one of its kind in the U.S. Others took extra time to visit the Eisenhower Library, Truman Library and other historial places.

At the opening event, Kansas City Mayor Sylvester “Sly” James, Jr. popped in to visit his mother, Melva James. Mrs. James is a long-time member of the Spring Mountain Republican Women. Needless to say, everyone at the table had to meet the mayor and get their photo taken!

Speaker Newt Gingrich and his wife were having a snack at the Downtown Marriott lobby bar. Nevertheless, they graciously let their food get cold to meet well-wishers and pose for photo after photo after photo…

Herman Cain signed multiple photographs for two gentlemen outside the hotel while his handler kept repeating, “We’ve really got to go.” Yet the presidential candidate signed every photo and then spoke to two convention attendees before being led off to the next event.

Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin gave the closing luncheon keynote address. “When people asked me whether I was bothered by all the noise the protesters made, I told them, ‘I’m used to it. I have teen-agers and it’s like this all the time.'”

When he spoke to the NFRW crowd, Speaker Gingrich promised that his wife would host the entire organization at a White House picnic should he be elected.
