(Chuck Muth) – If the Republican Party in Nevada isn’t all over state Senate Minority Majority Leader Steven Horsford (D-Big Labor) like white on rice by COB today, it’s as useless as teats on a bull and ought to be taken out behind the barn and shot.
According to a story in the Las Vegas Sun this morning, Horsford is proposing a $1.5 BILLION TAX HIKE for the next legislative session – almost double the tax hike he shepherded through the last legislative session!
“With the state facing an estimated $3 billion shortfall, Horsford proposed in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun that the state should cut programs or shift them along with their costs to local governments,” reports David McGrath-Schwartz. “These spending reductions would total about $1.5 billion. An equal amount would be needed in taxes, he said.”
Hello, GOP? Anybody home?
The Nevada GOP should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around the necks of every Democrat running for office this year, up and down the ballot.
Republican Sharron Angle should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around Democrat Sen. Harry Reid’s neck.
Republican congressional candidate Joe Heck should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around Democrat Rep. Dina Titus’ neck.
GOP gubernatorial candidate Brian Sandoval’s campaign should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around Democrat goober candidate Rory REID’s neck.
Republican state Sen. Barbara Cegavske should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around Democrat challenger Tammy Peterson’s neck.
Republican state Senate candidate Mike Roberson should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around incumbent Democrat Sen. Joyce Woodhouse’s neck.
Republican Assembly candidate Pete Goicoechea should wrap the $1.5 Billion Dollar Man around Democrat Speaker-in-Waiting John Oceguerra’s neck.
No Democrat candidate in the state of Nevada running for any office – federal, state or local – should be allowed to appear at any public event anywhere, anytime without being asked whether or not they agree with Sen. Horsford that Nevadans – currently suffering the highest unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy rates in the nation – should be hit with a $1.5 BILLION TAX HIKE.
And if so, which taxes should be raised, on whom, and by how much? Inquiring taxpayers wanna know.
If Nevada Republicans are smart (I know, an oxymoron), they’ll make sure appearing next to the phrase “political albatross” in the dictionary will be a picture of Steven Horsford.
Folks, it just doesn’t get handed to you on a silver platter any better than this. If Republicans who never blow an opportunity to blow an opportunity blow this opportunity, they ought to just give up and go the way of the Whigs.
