(Sue Lowden) – It is clear that the career candidates and politicians are being threatened, and they’re defending themselves by attacking me, even to the point of breaking Ronald Reagan’s 11th commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican.”
I’m disappointed in the desperate campaign being run by Harry Reid and his east coast special interest allies, but I’m even more disappointed that one of my Republican opponents has chosen to stoop even lower by insulting not just me, but also on the thousands of people who support me and my plan to shake up Washington.
Just last week, Danny Tarkanian crossed the line when he told KOLO 8 TV in Reno that “One of my people is worth ten of hers.”
Why would Danny attack fellow Republican voters, activists and volunteers? These are the very people he wants to represent. They are the same Tea Party patriots, GOP volunteers and just ordinary Nevadans who helped make get-out-the-vote calls from my office into Massachusetts to help elect Scott Brown. Since that historic election, they continue to involve themselves, their time and effort into this campaign.
I think it is great that so many passionate conservatives are getting involved this year – no matter which candidate they are supporting and in which of the races – up and down the ballot. No matter what happens after this primary on June 8th, I hope those who do not prevail in our primary will encourage their supporters to get behind the Republican nominee – as I have pledged since day one of my campaign – so that we can retire Harry Reid. Danny’s attack on fellow conservative Nevadans is a new low, and it is unacceptable.
I am proud of my volunteers, and I will be the first to come to their defense – just as they have done for me as the SEIU and other east coast union interests have joined Danny Tarkanian, Harry Reid, and the Washington establishment in doing all they can to try to distort my record. My enthusiastic volunteers have made more than 200,000 voter contacts in the last four months, many of them committing to 3 or 4 hours a day for multiple days a week.
We have an aggressive grassroots effort, and I recognize that the momentum we have had since day one would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of thousands of my supporters. They share my belief that Washington is broken and NOW is the time to take our country back.
If you have not already volunteered to help retire Harry Reid, please call one of my offices or email us at volunteer@suelowden.com today and find a time to help out. We have 31 days until the final ballots are cast, with early voting beginning in exactly two weeks in many places. I need you now more than ever.
Let us prove Danny wrong and pull the plug on the good ‘ol boys Washington establishment.
(Sue Lowden is a Republican candidate for Nevada’s U.S. Senate seat)
