Tea Party Chairman Resigns, Endorses Angle

(NN&V Staff) – The Chairman of the Tea Party of Nevada, Syd James has resigned his position effective immediately and is endorsing Sharron Angle for the United States Senate seat from Nevada.

Scott Ashjian will be listed as the “Tea Party” candidate on the November ballot, but he has received no endorsements from any Tea Party group and now has lost the support of his former Party chairman.

James became disillusioned with Ashjian recently when he misrepresented to the Angle campaign his intent at a recent meeting between the two campaigns and Ashjian covertly taped a conversation without the knowledge of James or Angle.

“I gave the Angle campaign my word that this was to be a private meeting and not tape recorded. I feel my personal integrity and honor was violated when Scott taped what was to be a private conversation and then made it public. I regret that Scott felt he needed to do this. I can understand why the Angle campaign feels that they were double-crossed. The Angle campaign trusted me and that trust was violated,” said James.

“I arranged the meeting in an attempt to see if Scott Ashjain would consider withdrawing from the campaign and lending his support to Sharron Angle,” said James. “When I found out about the audiotape of the meeting by Scott I was beside myself. Sharron Angle has been completely honorable in this entire process. This meeting was the first time I had met Sharron Angle and I was so impressed by the character that she has displayed, I would like to publically endorse her,” continued James.

Syd James will be taking questions from the media at the following time and location.
