(Chuck Muth) – Matt Kittle of The Federalist published a national story on the Pigpen Project today that was both accurate and well-presented. It begins with…
“A lot of conservatives talk about election integrity. Chuck Muth, president of Nevada’s Citizen Outreach Foundation, is walking the walk.”
OK, that’s accurate – but doesn’t tell the full story.
Fact is, we have a small team of volunteers – led by our data guru, Dan Burdish, and our field general, Iris Stone – who are largely responsible for the project’s success.
Every time we’ve hit a roadblock or a challenge – usually because of the complexity of our convoluted election laws – they’ve tackled and overcome them. That includes continuing to walk door-to-door as temperatures in Las Vegas continue to soar well over 110 degrees!
These folks are freaking WARRIORS.
And let’s not forget those who have financially supported this project – both big and small – and continue to support expanding it. As Morton Blackwell of the Leadership Institute says, “You can’t save the world if you can’t pay the rent.”
I’m glad we’ve been able to give you a good return on investment!
I also want to give a shoutout to the election officials at the Clark County Registrar of Voters office – folks who too often get a bad, undeserved rap because the critics simply haven’t taken the time to learn the laws that are in place.
When we’ve had questions, they’ve answered them. Promptly. When we’ve proceeded incorrectly on something, they’ve advised how to correct the situation – as occurred with some recent test “challenges” we filed before the June 11 primary.
It’s been a mutually cooperative relationship to achieve a mutual objective: To clean up the voter files.
Unfortunately, when we recently began expanding the project statewide, we ran into resistance from a couple of counties, including Washoe.
Not from the actual Registrar of Voters, Cari-Ann Burgess – who I met a couple months ago and had a very positive conversation with – but from the department’s spokesperson, Bethany Drysdale.
In an email statement to a far-left Democrat publication fighting to block efforts to clean up the voter rolls, Ms. Drysdale wrote…
“There is legal procedure in place to challenge the residency and eligibility of a voter. These third-party efforts to remove voters do not follow those procedures, and it’s important for voters to know that we follow the law. It is a voter’s responsibility to update their registration by notifying our office, and without their consent there are extensive steps defined by statute that must be taken before we can make any changes that would affect their ability to vote.”
For the record, Ms. Drysdale has NEVER spoken with me. And she’s just flat-out wrong in accusing us of not knowing or following the proper procedures to remove ineligible voters from the voter rolls.
In fact, because we’ve been so thorough in researching and learning the laws and procedures to assure we do everything by the book – knowing we’d come under scrutiny and attacks – I’d venture to say we probably know those laws and procedures BETTER than Ms. Drysdale herself.
Maybe she should read this recent column I wrote explaining EXACTLY what we’re doing and how we’re doing it according to the laws and procedures as written.
Anyway, Mr. Kittle concluded in his article…
“What the Pigpen Project ultimately aims to do is demonstrate through meticulous data research and boots-on-the-ground confirmation that there is indeed a problem with voter roll maintenance in the Silver State and it needs much more attention.”
Indeed, we’ve only used reliable governmental data for our research. We’re using new technology that wasn’t available even a year ago. And we’ve confirmed its validity and reliability through in-person, door-to-door canvassing.
We also don’t make claims or allegations we can’t back up. All in all, we’ve conducted our efforts reasonably and responsibly – which is one of the reasons why the Pigpen Project has been so successful where so many others have failed.
We – especially our volunteers and financial supporters – are making a difference. But there’s a LOT of work that still needs to be done. Truth is, “we’ve only just begun.” And as the late, great Ronald Reagan once said, the best is yet to come.

P.S. While our primary focus is on cleaning up the voter rolls, if we see something, we say something.
For example, in doing our research we discovered a voter registered in Nevada who also appeared to have voted in the 2022 election in Texas. We filed an Election Integrity Violation Report that is currently under investigation by the Secretary of State.
Also, a Pigpen volunteer was advised that a non-citizen had been registered to vote at the DMV despite checking off the box indicating he did NOT want to register.
We helped him fill out and submit a “Request for Removal of Name from Voting Records” form and are following up with election officials to determine how many others may have been inappropriately registered and what to do about it.
