Titus Votes For Higher Taxes . . . Again

Titus Votes For Higher Taxes . . . Again
N&V Staff
November 10, 2009

(Joe Heck) – Dina Titus voted for what the Wall Street Journal has called “The Worst Bill Ever.” In doing so, it will cost us $1.055 trillion. That’s Trillion.

Nancy Pelosi and Dina Titus are trying to ram a huge tax increase and worse, government takeover of healthcare, down our throats. They’re doing it without time for proper debate and discussion because they know that an honest debate will bring out the harsh realities of this horrible legislation. Debate and discussion would allow voters in Southern Nevada and across the country to have a voice in the process, it would allow patients and doctors to be a part of the dialogue and it would allow small business owners to tell their side of the story.

Dina Titus and Nancy Pelosi know that in a fair fight there is no way that seniors, parents, business owners, healthcare providers and patients will stand for such an awful piece of legislation – so they are tilting the playing field in favor of a few special interest groups who favor a government takeover of healthcare. Nancy Pelosi knows that if she can’t win a fair fight, she still has loyal followers like Dina Titus who will support her agenda – no questions asked.

In recent weeks, I have participated in five healthcare town hall meetings. At several I have stayed well beyond the close of the meeting to answer every question from every person. I’ve done that because I care what you think – whether we agree or not. I’ve done that because healthcare for the people of Southern Nevada is simply too important to take for granted, and too important to be decided in a vacuum among a group of liberal legislators without regard for input from those who need the system.

While Dina Titus is voting for a bill that will raise your taxes, limit your healthcare choices and make it harder to get the care you need, I am serving our country as an active reserve in the United States Army where I command hundreds of our nation’s finest men and women.

There has never been a greater contrast between two candidates.

Dina Titus is raising your taxes again, limiting your choices in healthcare and working behind the scenes to help Nancy Pelosi expand her San Francisco agenda.

I am a husband, a father, a veteran, a small business owner and an emergency room doctor. I’ve spent my adult life serving my fellow citizens and I am proud of my record.

I’m running for Congress because we have enough bureaucrats in Washington. We need some people who have seen trauma and sacrifice – in the emergency room, on the battle field and in business. I will fight every day for Southern Nevada and I promise to put your needs first. It’s how I’ve always done it, and it’s how I’ll do it in Congress.

The campaign is going well and voters across the district are showing their support for our efforts – and their disdain for Dina’s voting with Nancy Pelosi 97% of the time and her support of “The Worst Bill Ever.”

Dina campaigned as a moderate, but she continues to show her true colors siding with Nancy Pelosi over the people of Nevada. It’s time to let Dina know that we are smart enough to know the difference between a leader and a follower. It’s time to let Dina know that we need honest leadership in Washington DC and it is time to let Dina know that we deserve better than this healthcare bill that will punish every Nevada taxpayer and make it harder for all of us to get the care we need.

This campaign is about us. It is about our future and it is about putting a stop to a growing government that wants to take more of our money, our freedoms and our ability to thrive.

(Dr. Joe Heck is a Republican candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District)
