(Jessie Hellmann, The Hill) – President-elect Donald Trump is considering retired Gen. David Petraeus to fill the position of secretary of State, according to a Monday report from Bloomberg.

Trump is set to meet with Petraeus on Monday in New York, a transition official said.

Petraeus last year pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of mishandling classified material. He had shared classified intelligence with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, a former Army intelligence officer with whom he had an extramarital affair.

Trump frequently mentioned Petraeus on the campaign trail, comparing his case to the investigation into Hillary Clinton‘s use of a private email server while secretary of State.
