Urge McConnell To Name Rubio To “Super Committee”

Urge McConnell To Name Rubio To “Super Committee”
N&V Staff
August 8, 2011
(Citizen Outreach) – The meltdown of our economy has, supposedly, been “averted” but now Congress must agree on cuts unless we face another debt limit increase fiasco. This important task will be in the hands of 12 members of Congress, six Republican and six Democrats. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is responsible for naming three of these members. Please join us in urging Senator McConnell in doing the “right” action by appointing Senator Marco Rubio to the Joint Select Committee on Debt Reduction.

Senator Mitch McConnell
317 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

We the undersigned, believe that Senator Marco Rubio would be an excellent choice for appointment to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.

This committee, which is tasked with reducing the federal budget deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next ten years, is critical to restoring fiscal stability to the federal government. Furthermore, if the 12 members of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction fail to reach an agreement before November 23, 2011, across the board cuts would be made that could substantially impact defense spending and essential Homeland Security programs.

As these across the board cuts could cripple U.S. national security, it is critical that a deal be reached that protects U.S. national security interests while eliminating non-essential and wasteful government programs.

For this reason we believe that Senator Marco Rubio would balance protecting the U.S. taxpayer while ensuring that critical defense programs remain adequately funded.

Senator Marco Rubio has a proven track record of fiscal responsibility. For this, we encourage you to appoint Senator Rubio to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.
