Changing the word “Assemblywoman” to “Assemblymember.”
Yes, you read that correctly.
With all the real problems facing the state, Nevada Democrats are laser-focused on making sure a title that has existed for decades is now “gender-neutral.”
Because, apparently, nothing says “progress” like erasing women from the political lexicon.
This ridiculous proposal is a textbook example of woke virtue signaling.
Instead of tackling the skyrocketing cost of living, fixing the disastrous public school system, or ensuring public safety, Nevada Democrats have prioritized making sure nobody’s feelings get hurt by a title.
Let’s be clear: “Assemblywoman” is a term that acknowledges and celebrates the role of women in government. It’s a title of honor, recognizing their contributions and leadership.
“I am a woman, and women have worked very hard to achieve recognition as legislators,” said my colleague, Assemblywoman Jill Dickman (R-Washoe). “If I can choose my pronouns, I should be able to choose my title.”
But now, in the name of political correctness, Democrats want to strip that away. Because, to them, nothing is more offensive than acknowledging biological reality.
And here’s where it gets even more absurd: This change directly contradicts President Trump’s recent executive order affirming the existence of two sexes.
That’s right. While President Trump is standing up for common sense and biological reality, Nevada Democrats are working overtime to dismantle it.
Think about that. The party that claims to be champions of women’s rights is actively trying to erase the word “woman” from government titles.
“Despite being the first female majority legislature in the country, Nevada Assemblywomen are no longer allowed to call themselves women,” noted State Sen. Ira Hansen (R-Washoe) in a floor statement. “The Woke Mind Virus continues its infection of the Nevada Legislature.”
This isn’t progress. It’s an ideological crusade to make everything as bland, meaningless, and politically correct as possible.
Nevada voters didn’t elect their representatives to waste time on feel-good, woke nonsense. They elected them to fix real problems.
But instead of securing the border, improving the economy, or ensuring our schools aren’t churning out illiterate graduates, Democrats are obsessing over the language police.
Even some liberals are quietly scratching their heads at this one. Political correctness is one thing, but this level of absurdity is enough to make even the wokest Democrat cringe.
But, of course, the far-left activists pushing this nonsense don’t care.
They don’t care about common sense. They don’t care about real issues. They care about pushing an agenda that forces everyone to conform to their ever-changing, radical worldview.
At some point, enough is enough. Nevadans deserve lawmakers who care more about fixing real problems than playing word games.
It’s time to stop letting the left hijack the political conversation with their never-ending list of imaginary grievances.
Voters need to ask themselves: Do we want leaders who will tackle crime, inflation, and failing schools? Or do we want leaders who will waste time changing words to avoid offending the woke mob?
The choice is clear. Nevada deserves better.
