Ernaut Takes GOP Reins

Ernaut Takes GOP Reins
Chuck Muth
October 2, 2009

Nevada Republican Party Chairman Sue Lowden stepped down on Wednesday to run in the GOP primary for the nomination to run against Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) next year. Pursuant to the party’s Bylaws and the Nevada Revised Statutes, Vice-Chairman Nancy Ernaut of Elko is now the interim Chairman until the Central Committee elects a new, full-time replacement for Lowdenn.

Ernaut is a 25 year veteran of state party politics, having served as Vice Chairman to four former Chairmen, as well Chairman of the state party when former Attorney General Brian McKay stepped down.

“I am happy to serve at this very important time in history of the great state of Nevada,” Ernaut said. The Republican registration numbers are increasing across the state and the man on the street is ready to start the wheels of change rolling by electing Republicans during this midterm election. The building blocks of today are tomorrow’s House! Statewide the candidates are serious and committed to winning in Nevada.”

The Republican Central Committee will meet in Hawthorne on November 13th to elect new officers of the Rural County Caucus, as well as state officers. The two elected slates of officers will serve for 2 years.
