(Karri Bragg) – More than three hundred guests bundled up and headed to Stoney’s Rockin’ Country Bar this past Friday evening to gather for the First Friday Christmas Party, hosted by Citizen Outreach Foundation.
Guests were not only entertained by the usual country tunes and 2-for-1 drinks, but also by a large and diverse group of politicos and regular folks from all over the state.
Among the key “insiders” mixing and mingling were former Governor Kenny Guinn, U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle, State Senator Mark Amodei, Republican Study Committee Chair & State Rep. Ed Goedhart, newly-elected Chair of the Nevada Republican Party Chris Comfort, political consultant Randi Thompson, and State Assemblyman Dick McArthur.
Even infamous CityLife blogger Steve Sebelius and not-so-left-leaning Democrat blogger Mike Zahara were on hand to enjoy a beer and good company.
VIP guest Congressman Dean Heller, fresh from the grips of Nancy Pelosi and her ilk in Washington, was kind enough to spend an evening away from the kids to take the mic and give a quick update on the shenanigans happening in our nation’s capital.
An extra treat for conservatives hanging out on Friday evening: the first-ever signing of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to have taken place in a bar!
Congressional District 1 candidate Craig Lake signed the Pledge vowing not to raise taxes on top of the bar at Stoney’s, to remind constituents that “Democrats in Washington are drunk with overspending!”
Beyond the usual fun and antics that take place at First Friday, the Christmas Party also brought the focus back to one major element: serving the Las Vegas community.
A group of eight U.S. Marines were present throughout the entire event to collect Toys for Tots. They walked away with many “thank yous”, warm handshakes, a hefty donation pail, and several overflowing boxes of toys that will be given to children in Clark County this Christmas.
