Hardy: Honoring Our Entrepreneurs During National Small Business Week

Posted By

Cresent Hardy(Cong. Cresent Hardy) – I spent my life in the private sector with all the joys and challenges that small business owners face today. There is nothing in business quite like hiring your first employee, building a new partnership, or seeing the successful completion of a long-term project.

Small businesses are the foundation of our nation’s economy and will create some of the biggest innovations of our generation. They employ 48% of our nation’s private-sector employees and represent 99.7% of all businesses with employees. When a small business owner advances his or her business goals, it advances all of Nevada.

To support Nevada’s own growing small businesses, my office held numerous events this week to help employees and employers alike. My business improvement seminar “Get Funded. Get Marketing. Get Growing! brought experts together with entrepreneurs to give them tools to help their dreams become a reality. We held a Career Advancement Workshop to help those seeking better employment improve their interview skills and hear from local employers on how they can stand out in the application process.

In honor of the National Small Business Week, we honor those local leaders – the thinkers and doers – dedicated to providing new opportunities for Nevadans. This week, of all weeks in the year, we honor their dedication and sacrifice, the stress and long nights, and the immeasurable contribution they make to our communities.

Consider supporting a local small business today. They certainly support our communities.

Nevada’s Small Business Owners

National Small Business Week 1

Nevada’s small business owners are some of the hardest workers I know. Joe Hernandez, President of the Nevada Hispanic Business Group and Branch-Hernandez Consulting & Insurance Services, shared with me some of the issues affecting small businesses in District Four and across the nation.

Nevada can be proud of individuals like Joe for their dedication toward strengthening Nevada’s business community. It was great meeting with you!

National Small Business Week 2

Earlier this week, I also met with Sew Yeah Quilting’s team to learn about the wonderful fabrics and classes they offer to foster creativity within our communities.

It’s so great to have so many diverse small businesses in our state that provide a wide range of services for our families. Happy National Small Business Week to you all!
