(Rick Korbel) – We all wish we could have had our perfect ending for the budget deal. Indeed it is very frustrating to have to acknowledge the Democratic majority’s influence on the budget making process. In a time when all of us are feeling the effects of the recession on our businesses and families, even this one concession can feel burdensome.
However, none of us know the restrictions or difficulties that the Governor and his staff were operating under. It is easy to criticize him for being unable to achieve his complete budget, but we don’t know what went on behind the scenes. Without him, we would be looking at billions of dollars in new taxes and an overbearing and tyrannical Democratic legislature.
In light of this alternative, the Governor has done admirably. The Governor has achieved major conservative budget goals despite fierce liberal opposition and Supreme Court interference. He has reached a pragmatic compromise guiding the State towards future Republican objectives. All things considered, this is a victory, not a defeat.
Governor Sandoval has done an admirable and excellent job; the true image of a statesman and a leader. We should be thanking him for his hard work and standing behind him instead of condemning him for compromising.
Rather than wasting this energy on attacking our leader, we should be focusing on winning State Senate and Assembly seats, Congressional races like CD-02, and preparing to defend our other leaders, such as Congressman Joe Heck and Senator Dean Heller. All of these races have consequences.
Without our combined efforts, in 2013, Nevada’s delegates could be Senators Harry Reid and Shelley Berkley and Representatives Steven Horsford, John Oceguera, Kate Marshall, and Dina Titus. Do you want that to be our future?
Commit your energy to supporting Republicans. Without your support of our Republican leaders, we face a future without a voice. We should show gratitude to our Governor and respect for each other instead of this ungrateful string of petty bickering. A Republican Super Majority will prevent this situation in the future.
What are you going to do to create our Super Majority?
