I think it’s high time we discussed the whole topic of sexual harassment, rape and consensual sex with clear eyes.
Rape is the act of a man forcing sex upon a woman who—at the time—says “NO”.
Sexual harassment is the act of a man harassing a woman with continual innuendo and propositions to the point where it creates an environment which the woman cannot continue to inhabit.
Consensual sex is where both parties agree—assuming they are above the age of consent and for whatever their reasons—to engage in an act of sex.
And while we are defining things, women can also be the aggressors in the above acts but it is admittedly much rarer.
Now, let me tell you what I believe these issues are NOT.
If a woman decides to have sex with, say, a powerful figure in the entertainment world to enhance her career, that is NOT rape. It is NOT sexual harassment. In the most favorable light, it is prostitution. When that same woman comes forward 30 years later charging sexual harassment or rape, she is—in a word—lying. And anyone who facilitates such accusations is pimping.
Let’s not kid each other. Harvey Weinstein is a pig. But any woman who has sex with him in hopes of advancing her career is every bit as guilty as he is. That doesn’t make him any less a pig. Now in Weinstein’s case, it is probable that he got so cocky that he did step over the line many times and is getting what he deserves.
But it appears that old and largely unprovable sexual harassment and/or rape charges have now become a favorite technique of people with a vested interest in burying other people.
That used to be the way the word racist was used.
As the public has built up a tolerance to the misuse of that word, this seems to be the new way people are destroyed without a trial except by the Kangaroo Court of CBS, the Washington Post and the rest of the mainstream media.
Again, let me emphasize that some of those people may well be getting what they richly deserve.
But, however distasteful some of those people are, Mitt Romney’s comment about Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, that, “Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections,” is repugnant on its face.
In Moore’s case a woman alleged something happened 39 years ago with a politician who has run high profile races in his state many times and this NEVER came up? And the Mittster—Mr. 47%—starts running his pie hole as if he had any insight at all?
What gives Mitt Romney the right to act like the Church Lady? He doesn’t even do a decent imitation of Dana Carvey’s character. But, make no mistake; what Mitt is doing is saying that it’s OK to publicly destroy someone who may be innocent of anything except pissing off the establishment by having had the nerve to defeat it in a primary election. And exactly when do the good people of the great state of Alabama get a say? It’s their election. Last time I checked, Mitt lives in Utah.
Under those circumstances, it sure is a good thing Romney lost the 2012 election.
Is Roy Moore a sex offender and child abuser?
Well, the accusation was certainly timed perfectly. Just in time for Moore not to be able to defend it.
Logic would dictate the accusations are not true. This guy has served as a prosecutor, a judge and the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. Over a 40 year career, it would be a secret way too hard to keep. And, further, somehow Gloria Allred is involved. Which means whoever she is “representing” is probably on the take.
The piling on from political opponents seems more like a UFC Cage Match than an election and it seems that they all feel as if calling someone a pedophile or a sex offender lets them do the Church Lady’s Superior Dance in front of a TV camera. Isn’t that special?
Finally, there are the so-called Republican members of the Senate who were against Moore in the first place and now say he should step aside.
Watching John McCain say that Moore should not be in the United States Senate makes me remember his return to Arizona in 1980, from being a POW and dumping his wife for a new model. Even he called it his greatest moral failure. But he is silent on whether or not he is fit to serve in the Senate.
Congress is the home away from home of the perv. You won’t find more predators per capita than in the halls of the Capitol. They have interns and plenty of examples to follow.
For these clowns (Mitch McConnell) to be saying what they are saying makes me want to get a squad of investigators to look into each and every Senator and many members of the House. I’m guessing the results would make the rest of us look like Sunday School teachers.
This is a decision for Alabama. The Washington whores need to SHUT UP.
