(Montandon for Governor campaign) – The founding fathers of the United States of America were concerned that a strong federal government would eventually turn into a dictatorship which would oppress the people, so they intentionally weakened the federal government in the tenth amendment which says “The powers not delegated to the United States by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”
The battle for power formed at the creation of this Great nation continues today. We the people have a choice to stand by and let the constitution of the United States get pushed aside like an outdated artifact of no significance, or to fight for our liberty. The Constitution of the United States of America and its Amendments must be defended.
Mike Montandon believes in defending the liberties and freedoms our Founding Fathers provided us. Mike Montandon believes in limited federal interference in state affairs. And, as governor, Mike Montandon will defend the sovereignty of the great state of Nevada from an oppressive federal government. Health care reform for Nevadan’s should be decided by the people of Nevada and our Nevada State Legislators.
Mike Montandon calls on the legislators of Nevada to send a message to the Federal Government that Nevada will opt-out of the Federal health are bill, that the issue of health care is a state issue, and that, in the 2011 legislative session, Nevada, and not the federal bureaucracy in Washington, will reform health care for Nevadans.
We must make health care affordable. We must have TORT reform . We must allow health care choices to be made between the patient and the doctor, where the patient is given choice regarding the cost of their treatment. We must reduce protectionist government mandates that prohibit competition within the health insurance industry. We must eliminate the redistribution of wealth as the cost of health care for the uninsured including illegal immigrants are passed on to the insured.
Before bullying through a health care bill, the Nevada legislature must look at and model Nevada’s reform after those programs currently working in Nevada for Nevadans. Health Access Washoe County (HWAC) is a private solution with remarkable success. Success is also found in PEO firms like Payroll Solutions that PRIVATELY pool employees into larger groups for better health insurance options. Nevada’s health care solutions must be molded to Nevada’s unique infrastructure and not crammed into a one-size-fits-all federal program.
With Mike Montandon’s vision for the New Nevada, Nevadans can and will solve our state’s health care issues while keeping the federal government in its proper role.
(Mr. Montandon is a former mayor of North Las Vegas and Republican candidate this year for Nevada governor)
