Washington Crows About Lower Unemployment, Heck Calls It An Illusion

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Joe Heck made the following statement regarding November’s national employment situation. The economy created 120,000 new jobs as the unemployment rate ticked down 0.4 percent to 8.6 percent.

“Anytime the unemployment rate drops and another Nevadan finds a job, it is a good thing, but today’s news is not a victory.

“The drop in the unemployment rate is an illusion caused by the fact that 300,000 Americans stopped looking for work last month. Only 120,000 jobs were created in November – that isn’t enough.

“The unemployment rate in President Obama’s economy has remained over 8 percent for 34 months now. How much longer must Nevadans suffer before he pressures the Senate to act on the 23 jobs bills sitting on its doorstep? Nevadans have weathered the worst of this recession, and I’m committed to working with any person who will help revitalize our economy.”
