(Congressman-elect Allen West) – It has been just over a week since your support propelled us to victory in Congressional District 22.
Since the election, we have reviewed the results and are looking ahead to the challenges we will be facing in the coming weeks.
Our victory over Ron Klein was convincing and complete. We won in the early voting, in the absentee ballots and on Election Day. We carried both Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
The voters of south Florida responded to our message of smaller, more efficient government and a return to governing via Constitutional principles.
But our opponents are relentless in their efforts to stop us.
The mainstream media – from the Miami Herald to the Washington Post – has already attacked me.
Harry Reid won re-election and will once again become the leader in the U.S. Senate. Nancy Pelosi has announced she wants to lead the Democrats in the House once again.
Reid and Pelosi are planning a “lame-duck” session of Congress in December where they wish to bring up more spending bills before the new Congress convenes in January.
Next week I will be traveling to Washington to meet with the newly elected Members of Congress as well as the Republican leadership.
We need to send a message to Washington that we are ready to continue the fight to restore our Constitutional republic.
We will be able to deliver the message to Pelosi, Reid and the liberals in Washington that the people have spoken and no new spending bills should be passed in Congress this year.
Thank you in advance for your support.
