Zahara: Predictions in State Senate Races

Posted By

(Mike Zahara/WatchdogWag.com)Senate District 5: Incumbent Joyce Woodhouse is the quintessential political hack who was a terribly ineffective teacher who would have been deservedly fired without tenure, and an even more ineffective administrator, and a consistent apologist for our failed schools. Rather than answering why barely half the money we spend ends up in the classroom, she told the papers that she would focus on looking for more revenue!

She stuffed her pockets with $10,000 to act as a ‘consultant’ which was really a bribe to never, ever say no to the Education Industrial Complex.

Senator Joyce Woodhouse has proven herself to be prolific liar and hyper-corrupted hack, lacking any moral compass or any guiding values or principles.

She approved attack mailers against her opponent that have zero basis in truth proving that she covets the power she has and that she will do anything to keep it. One of the most egregious was that he was against kids and schools…the same old tired Dem rhetoric that voters will be flushing this cycle.

Republican Michael Roberson is married to a teacher! A teacher who is a member of Nevada’s influential Leavitt family at that!

For those GOPers who may have forgotten what a real republican looks and sounds like, Michael Roberson is the real deal. He’s a native of Kansas which is famous for wheat, Jayhawks, and buffalo shit…and is where old-school republicans are raised.

Roberson stands firm on his fiscal bona fides and will be a very welcomed addition of fiscal restraint and reform in Carson City.

Prediction: I would enthusiastically vote for Michael Roberson and he will win SD05.

Senate District 7: I like GOPer Tony Wright and underestimated him in his primary, but his credible worldview is too broad for such a local office where dogs barking and crap in backyards dominate what people call their elected reps about.

The Mark Manendo Machine is something to behold here. It is the most mature and active political organization in the entire state. It fondly reminds me of some regions back home where voters knew their reps…personally!

Everyone in his community knows Mark Manendo personally—he goes to everything—he stays in constant touch with his community—and he is routinely punished by Dem party bosses for it.

He can stand all by himself and should become a reform maverick now that Dem leadership has to engage him in the state senate. By default and because the bosses shit on him so often, Manendo holds all of the high cards now and they will be groveling and begging forgiveness the entire 2011 session.

That’s real power kids!

He will be a crucial vote in reapportionment, taxes, higher education cuts, election reform, and other issues.

Mark would be a credible winning candidate for statewide or congressional office someday too—that’s how much he’s liked on the home front.

Prediction: I would enthusiastically vote for Mark Manendo and he will win in a landslide.

Senate District 8: Garbage Jones Vargas corporate attorney, Tammy Peterson, defends rich guys and huge companies and corporate concerns always and without fail against the greater good here in Nevada. She has no moral compass, no values or principles, no redeeming qualities, and just showed up one day and called herself a Democrat and decided to run this year after having never done a damn thing for the Democratic Party or for anyone other than herself over her entire life!

That she’s married to a Republican big shot, fat cat donor is also a very disturbing fact from Dem interloper, Tammy Peterson.

They deliberately recruited a Dem blond to run against a Republican blonde cynically believing that voters are that stupid and that no one would notice what a phony Tammy Peterson really is!

Barbara Cegavske was my senator for seven years before I met her and though she could certainly be more locally engaged, she has been a strong voice of fiscal restraint and it’s necessary to keep her in her seat for her final term.

Cegavske has a strong following in SD08 especially in the Spring Valley portions.

Prediction: I would vote for Barbara Cegavske and she will win the SD handily.

Senate District 9: This dependable Republican seat has GOPer Elizabeth Halseth running for the seat that had Michele Fiore’s name on it first. Halseth doesn’t inspire confidence and has a limited worldview, but is an exceptionally beautiful young woman, with cute kids and a dorky husband—they typify the traditional nuclear family that voters love to see and know about.

Benny Yerushalmi is a good Dem recruit who was only cynically recruited because he’s rich and running his parent’s jewelry business…he knows he’s being used by NVDEMS and is fine with it as he gets his sea legs in public life.

His name is too exotic and sounds like a new sandwich offering at Quiznos to be a first-time effort winner and he made a crucial mistake in not putting his face on his outdoor signage so that people could get a look at what a Benny Yerushalmi is.

I like Benny, I like that he’s educated and running a business, but this isn’t his year.

Prediction: I would vote for Yerushalmi but Halseth will win in a GOP meteor strike year.

Senate District 10: Is there any doubt that Ruben Kihuen will win? He’s earned it, he’s worked hard, I like him, and I hope he is a voice of reform in Carson City and that he will work for the new congressional seat be a minority-majority seat too.

He’s got to work tirelessly to get Hispanic participation growing and turning out too and he’s the only credible person to do it as Denis and Coffin failed miserably at it.

Senate District 12: In the most cynical move of the cycle, Steven Horsford decided to recruit Aaron Ford as the Dem sacrificial lamb for this strong Republican seat.

There was no way the always brooding, suspicious, and ineffective Horsford would ever support another black man who is far smarter, intellectually superior, and much more educated that himself. He sent Ford on a kamikaze mission to ensure that Aaron Ford never tries to upstage him ever again.

Steven Horsford deliberately produced for Ford some of the very worst campaign material I have ever seen and included phony pictures that aren’t even of district voters, but are off of Google Images or something!

I hope Ford does come back and I hope he knows how badly he was played by Steven Horsford too. Ford is a natural for regent, or school board, or countywide office not under Horsford’s incompetent thumb.

Republican Joe Hardy is an institution and there’s no credible reason to fire him.

Prediction: I would vote for Ford, but Hardy will easily win election.

Up North SD01: Yes, I did call Sheila Leslie Mrs Castro on the air because she is so far to the left of me, but I like her and would vote for her if I lived in her district. She’s an honest person who’s in public life not to enrich herself and that will always trump hard partisan ideology with a guy like me.

Prediction: Leslie will win handily and keep the seat in Dem hands.
