Hope you’re all gearing up for a fun and relaxing Labor Day! As we kick back on Monday, September 1, 2025, let’s take a quick stroll through why we’re celebrating—and why your hard work matters.
A Bit of Background:
Labor Day’s significance lies in honoring the social and economic contributions of American workers, serving as a national holiday to recognize their achievements and the labor movement’s struggles for fairer workplace conditions. The first parade to celebrate gave workers a moment to toast their efforts. It became an official U.S. holiday in 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed it into law.
So it’s more than just a long weekend. It’s a nod to where we came from, and a day to honor the nearly 160 million hardworking Americans, and it’s the unofficial end of summer.
Here’s Something to Ponder:

“Without labor, nothing prospers” — Sophocles
That quote sticks with me—because whether we’re planning events, organizing fundraisers, canvassing neighborhoods, or simply showing up to support each other, there’s importance in every effort made at work, home and what we accomplish laboring together in the CCRP.
So this Labor Day, remember;
-
It’s our time to relax and recharge. We’ve earned it, so let’s enjoy every lazy moment! (Don’t forget to say a pray for our service members who can’t be home with their families to celebrate.
-
It’s a reminder of what we’ve built. Together, we’ve achieved so much—thanks to your energy and passion.
-
It’s a time to reaffirm what we stand for. Respect, collaboration, and celebrating hard work aren’t just ideals—they’re what makes our communities strong and what makes the CCRP strong.
Have an amazing Labor Day! Whether you’re hitting a BBQ, catching some sun, or just chilling at home, soak up that rest and let’s return with even more drive and connection.
In Service,
Jill Douglass, CCRP Chair
