The Dumbest Campaign Mistake I’ve Seen in a Long Time…
When kicking off my Campaign Boot Camp workshops for candidates, here’s Muth’s Truths #3:
“There’s more incompetence in the field of political consulting than in any field other than TV psychiatry.”
Well, if you have any interest in learning why so many conservative candidates consistently lose races they should have won – especially if you’re a conservative DONOR – here’s an example of that truth in action.
It involves the Assembly District 41 GOP primary race I wrote about last week. If you missed it, click here.
At issue is the campaign handout the consultant for Tofuola Alofipo put together. It sure looks “pretty,” but it’s a marketing disaster.
However, the worst part is that it includes one of the most boneheaded, amateur-hour mistakes I’ve seen in a LONG time.
The kind of mistake that doesn’t just cost you votes. It hands your opponent a loaded weapon.

If I were Tofu, I wouldn’t just fire the consultant. I’d ask for my money back. And consider suing him/her for damages. Because this was professional negligence.
Tofu, a first-time candidate, has potential. But this is the wrong race at the wrong time. She’s just not ready for prime time.
And if she stays in this race – and keeps listening to this consultant and know-nothing amateur “advisers” – her political future could be cut short before it even gets out of the gate.
