If Socialists Are Taking Over Your Party, Why Won't You Say Whether You're with Them or Against Them?
A Democrat from Texas just said the quiet part out loud.
Will Nevada Democrats?
U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez represents a competitive border district in South Texas. He's no conservative firebrand. He's a Democrat.
And after democratic socialists racked up major victories in New York, Gonzalez admitted something many Democrats won't.
He said the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are “a huge concern” for his party.
He said many of their ideas would be “very difficult to sell” to voters in his district.
He's worried. He should be.
So here's the question every Democrat running for office in Nevada this November should answer:
Do you agree with him… or with the socialists?
Not a speech. Not a press release. Just answer the question.
The Nevada Socialists Didn't Lose – They Just Changed Strategy
This year, the Las Vegas DSA proudly endorsed two candidates for the Nevada Assembly: Val Thomason and Shaun Navarro.
Both openly called themselves democratic socialists. Both promised not to take corporate money.
Both lost.
Good.
But don't mistake losing an election for losing the fight. The DSA isn't packing up and going home.
They're holding “Socialism 101” classes. They're organizing canvassers. They're phone banking. They're hosting “Abolish ICE” organizing meetings.
And they're working to elect certain Democrats across Nevada this November. Which raises an obvious question:
Which Democrats are they working for?
Here's What Nevada's Democratic Socialists Actually Believe
Forget the slogans. Forget the campaign flyers. Look at the platform.
- Government takeover of the entire economy — healthcare, housing, utilities, banking, and major industries all under Washington's control. They call it “democratic planning.” The Soviets called it the same thing.
- Abolish the police and empty the prisons — not “reform,” not “accountability” — elimination of law enforcement as we know it. Your neighborhood, your family, on their own.
- Force businesses to pay full wages for a 32-hour workweek — a government mandate that four days of work earns five days of pay. Small businesses don't survive this. That's probably the point.
- Kill American energy — no new oil, no new gas, existing production phased out. Higher utility bills, fewer jobs, and total dependence on China for whatever replaces it.
- Gut the U.S. military, shut down overseas bases, and pull out of NATO — leaving our allies exposed and our enemies emboldened, all while China and Russia are building up.
- Open the borders completely — abolish ICE, end deportations, stop enforcement. No borders. No sovereignty. No country. And they view Nevada's Democratic Party as the vehicle to move those ideas into law.
One of their own candidates even said the goal is to create “Zohran in every single state,” copying New York's socialist movement here in Nevada.
That's not Republican spin. That's their strategy.
So Where Are Nevada Democrats?
Congressman Gonzalez showed political courage. He publicly warned his own party about the growing influence of democratic socialism.
If he can answer the question… why can't Nevada Democrats?
Every Democrat running for Assembly…
State Senate…
Congress…
Governor…
Attorney General…
Every one of them should be asked if they support the platform positions of the DSA.
These aren't gotcha questions.
If you oppose them, say so. If you support them, say so.
Either way, voters deserve to know.
Silence Speaks Louder Than Campaign Ads
Politicians love talking about “working families.” They love talking about “affordability.” They love talking about “fighting for Nevada.”
Fine.
But none of those phrases answer the real question.
Are you standing with mainstream Nevadans… or with the people organizing “Abolish ICE” campaign meetings?
Because refusing to answer is an answer.
If a candidate won't tell voters where they stand on the socialist agenda, voters have every reason to wonder why.
The DSA isn't hiding what it wants. Why are Nevada Democrats hiding what they believe?
This November, don't settle for bumper stickers. Demand answers.
And if they still won't answer…
Draw your own conclusions.
