Ginsburg Challenges La Rue Hatch for Nevada Assembly District 25

A politically diverse district deserves common-sense leadership.

(Mike Ginsburg) – Assembly District 25 is politically diverse, yet we are represented by an assemblymember whose voting record sits on the far left of Nevada politics.

In my view, that record does not reflect the range of perspectives in our community.

A Nevada Independent article put it plainly: “Assm. Selena La Rue Hatch (D-Reno) was the farthest left on the ideological spectrum.”

Our district is approximately 31% Republican, 33% Democratic, and 36% nonpartisan or affiliated with other parties.

Those numbers do not tell us what every voter believes. They do show that no single party accounts for a majority of registered voters.

No party or ideology owns this district, and our representative should not govern as though one does.

My opponent describes herself as the “most independent Democrat.” But independence is not an accomplishment.

Voters should judge their representatives by what they deliver, not the labels they give themselves.

You do not need to follow politics closely to ask a straightforward question: What has she accomplished?

Over two terms, only two bills for which she served as a primary sponsor became law.

One of those, passed in 2025, called for a study. A study is not a solution, and commissioning a report is not the same as delivering meaningful results for families struggling with rising costs.

That is a thin record for someone asking voters for another term.

West Reno deserves more than proposals that go nowhere and studies that leave the hard decisions for another day.

She points to the governor’s vetoes, but introducing legislation and blaming the governor when it fails does not solve our problems.

Effective leadership requires building enough support to turn priorities into law.

Voters have every right to hold her accountable for that outcome.

Consider the bipartisan education legislation backed by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro and Republican Governor Joe Lombardo.

My opponent was one of just four Assembly members to vote against it.

Leaders from both parties found common ground on education. She voted no.

That decision deserves scrutiny, especially when families are asking lawmakers to improve our schools and expand opportunities for their children.

I support giving families educational options, including charter schools.

I believe our responsibility is to find solutions that help children succeed and give parents confidence in their education.

I am running because our district deserves stronger results.

While I disagree sharply with my opponent’s record, this election should be about more than party labels.

Yes, I am a registered Republican. But my party will not determine whose ideas I am willing to consider.

My family has built a legacy here over generations.

I volunteer in this community, and I have spent more than 40 years working for the power company.

My life has been rooted in work, service, and the everyday concerns of the people who call this community home.

If elected, I will work with legislators from either party to pass good policy.

I will listen, ask questions, and seek common ground while standing up for the people I represent.

My priorities are straightforward: addressing the cost of living, supporting public safety, and making sure our education system works for our children.

Families trying to pay their bills need practical solutions.

Our law enforcement officers and first responders need support.

Parents need an education system that prepares their children for a successful future.

These concerns deserve more than partisan arguments and another report. They deserve action.

When you cast your ballot, ask yourself: Does our current representation reflect this district?

Has she delivered enough to earn another term?

Are we satisfied with the results, or is it time to expect better?

I am Mike Ginsburg, and I believe West Reno deserves better. I am ready to do the work.
