(Yadusha Jones) – As a concerned parent in the Clark County School District (CCSD), I have not stayed silent about the issues plaguing our schools.
Now, more than ever, parents and taxpayers must wake up to the reality of what is happening in our education system.
We send our children to school expecting them to learn, grow, and prepare for the future. Instead, they are subjected to political indoctrination, exposed to inappropriate materials, and left behind academically.
Schools should be places of learning, not battlegrounds for ideological agendas.
Enrollment is Dropping—For a Reason
CCSD’s enrollment has dropped by 1,446 students this year, bringing the total to 308,447—a 0.47% decline.
This isn’t because there are fewer children in Clark County.
Families are pulling the students out en masse, in order to seek alternatives like homeschooling because they refuse to let their children be neglected academically and manipulated socially.
And let me be clear—there is nothing wrong with homeschooling. In fact, I encourage it.
I homeschool my own children and through homeschool co-ops, I’ve met some of the most well-rounded, highly educated, enlightened young people. They are proof that education can thrive when families take control.
No parent should be forced to homeschool just to ensure their child gets a proper education. After all, our tax dollars fund these schools—why are they failing to educate?
Inappropriate Content in Schools but Not in Prisons?
CCSD allows books with explicit content in school libraries—books which are banned in jails and prisons.
How is this acceptable for an 8-year-old but not for an adult inmate?
The hypocrisy is glaring, and the message is clear: schools are no longer safe spaces for children to learn and grow without being subjected to someone else’s agenda.
Teachers vs. Instructors: A System That Pushes Good Educators Out
Many passionate, dedicated teachers have been forced to leave CCSD because they want to teach—not indoctrinate.
What’s left in classrooms now, for the most part, are “lecturers” pushing personal beliefs instead of facts.
History is no longer history—it’s been rewritten to fit a narrative.
English is no longer about grammar and comprehension—it’s about political activism.
Math is not really a priority at all.
Whenever students struggle, the response is to push them along instead of helping them.
How can we expect students to grow into successful, self-sufficient adults when they are set up to fail from the start?
A Culture Without Consequences
Another major problem is the complete lack of discipline.
Schools no longer correct bad behavior; they respond with “positive reinforcement.”
There is no accountability, no structure—just participation trophies for showing up.
This is why we are raising a generation of children who grow into adults unable to handle criticism, face challenges, or even read at grade level.
Classrooms Should Be for Learning, Not Politics
Classrooms should be neutral learning environments where all children feel comfortable.
Instead, they are bombarded with political symbols—pride flags, BLM posters, and other ideological messaging.
I requested these flags be removed from my child’s classroom, I was told that my daughter should join a “Black social club” as some sort of consolation.
This is segregation, plain and simple.
Schools should not divide children based on race, gender, or ideology. A classroom should be a safe space for everyone, not just for those who align with a particular agenda.
CCSD Ignores Parents, Dodges Accountability
I reached out to school administrators, district officials and CCSD’s legal department about these issues. I was ignored.
The principal at Foothill High School stated he needed to “consult an attorney” about my concerns and get back to me. That was five months ago.
I contacted the CCSD legal department and asked to speak with Jon M. Okazaki. I was told I would get a call back, that was four months ago.
Parents are being silenced. Our voices don’t matter to CCSD, they believe they own our children.
What’s Next? Change is Coming
This is just the beginning. Parents and all taxpayers are waking up. We will hold CCSD accountable.
We want schools to educate, not indoctrinate. We want students learning History, math, Reading and science—not activism. We want our children to have nutritious meals, not slop.
Most of all, we want to see our tax dollars used for what was intended—educating the next generation, not funding a political experiment.
We are watching CCSD closely as they select a new superintendent. Will they choose a leader who prioritizes students or someone who is a Trustee puppet that continues to push an agenda?
Clark County families deserve better. We won’t stop fighting until we get it.
