Attorney General Laxalt’s Office Makes Computer Donation to Northern Nevada State Veterans Home

Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt’s office donated 44 computers, monitors and keyboards to the new Northern Nevada State Veterans Home. The home broke ground in July, 2017 and is slated to open its doors in December, 2018. The 96-bed skilled nursing care facility will serve veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents in a 102,000 square foot facility. The facility is designed to feel like a home, with private living quarters and a shared den, living room and kitchen. The facility will also house a restaurant, coffee bistro, sports bar, therapy gym, commissary store and barber shop.

“Veterans have long honored our State and country with their selfless service and fierce sense of duty, and I am proud to lead an organization that continually supports our military community,” said Attorney General Adam Laxalt. “The new Northern Nevada State Veterans home will provide much-needed addition to our community, and I hope this donation will support these deserving veterans.”

Nevada Department of Veterans Services Director Kat Miller added, “We are very grateful for this donation from the Nevada Attorney General’s Office. These computers will save our department money with most being put to good use at the new home and the others being used to process claims connecting veterans to earned benefits.”

Following 18 months of construction, Governor Brian Sandoval will be on hand for a ribbon ceremony at the new facility on December 17, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tours of the new facility will be provided starting earlier in the day, running from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is located at 36 Battle Born Way in Sparks. It is on the grounds of Lake’s Crossing near Kietzke Lane and Galletti Way. In November, 2015, AG Laxalt launched the Office of Military Legal Assistance @EASE Program, marking the nation’s first attorney general-led, public-private partnership offering our military communities access to pro bono civil legal services. The program continues to make an impact on the lives of our military heroes by providing Nevada’s military service members and veterans with pro bono civil legal services.
