(Dr. Rebecca Edgeworth) – We’ve officially passed the halfway mark in the legislative session, and things are heating up!
Most Assembly bills have either made it through their committee hurdles or have been left behind—”dead in committee,” as they say.
Last week saw a flurry of activity, with many of these bills making it to the Assembly floor for a vote. Still, the clock is ticking, and quite a few are racing to meet the critical April 22nd deadline.
Meanwhile, over in the Senate, bills that have passed are now heading to the Assembly, where they’ll begin the process all over again.
The legislative shuffle is in full swing!
Bills we voted on in General Assembly, now they’re on the way to the senate!
- · AB14 Requires NV elected officials to be registered to vote in the area they represent
- · AB19 Revises the makeup of the Substance Use Response Workgroup of Nevada
- · AB25 Requires certain preventative medical services for incarcerated women
- · AB55 Requires some car crash victims to be tested for alcohol and drugs
- · AB193 Requires law enforcement to provide domestic violence victims complete records
- · AB518 Nevada to join an interstate compact for placement of adopted children
- · SB96 Nevada to recognize National Holocaust Remembrance Day
My Bills:
- · AB161 To improve hospice care in Nevada (passed Assembly unanimously 4/18!)
- · AB221 Gets rid of double regulation of MD/DMDs (passed HHS, in Ways and Means)
- · AB314 To pipeline Nevadan K-12 to go onto healthcare (passed committee, awaiting 2nd read and General Assembly vote by 4/22)
- · AB315 To decrease Medicaid Fraud (passed committee, awaiting 2nd read and General Assembly vote by 4/22)
- · AB380 To improve access to mental health care thru 988 (awaiting General Assembly floor vote by 4/22)
Last week was a whirlwind—marathon Assembly floor sessions, multiple meetings a day, and lots of key votes moving us closer to meaningful change.
I just wanted to say thank you for all your support, your thoughtful feedback, and your continued engagement with the bills I’m working on.
As we approach the April 22nd deadline for General Assembly votes, things are moving quickly!
Once those votes are in, the next wave begins: bills will be assigned to Senate committees, and we’ll start the process all over again on that side.
I’d love to hear your thoughts—what’s working, what you’re excited about, and any concerns you might have.
And if you’re interested in getting more involved with any of the bills I’m carrying, just say the word! Your voice truly makes a difference.
Thanks again for being in this with me!
