(Rebecca Edgeworth) – Friends and neighbors, it is an honor to represent each of you in Carson City.
Since moving here at the end of January to serve, I’ve settled into a small apartment just a short walk from the legislative building.
Carson has a true small-town feel, everywhere you go, you’re bound to run into a familiar face, even at Smiths!
The weather has certainly been an adjustment from Vegas. It’s much colder than I’m used to!
We even had a heavy snowfall that led to a rare snow day, reminding me just how different Northern Nevada can be.
Despite the chill, I’m staying warm and focused on the work that matters most, representing you and advocating for our community.
As you know, our legislative session in Nevada lasts from 2/1 to 5/31 (120 days) every other year. So as we enter March, we’re 25% through the legislative session and things are really starting to pick up!
The first month we’ve had lots of presentations during our committee meetings and I’m learning so much about our state!
My committees are Health and Human Services (HHS), Government Affairs (GA) and Legislative Operations and Elections (Leg Ops).
As a freshman, I’m allowed 6 new bill requests, and as you can predict, they are mainly medical. It’s what I know!
But of course, I’m working on other important things like, potentially ending Nevada’s practice of daylight savings time and our vote to help increase egg availability in Nevada, and lower the cost!
That’s something that affects all Nevadans.
I’ve been working to stay in touch with each of you through Facebook Live events and recently had the chance to host a ‘Coffee and Conversation’ event at the wonderful Aware Coffee while I was in town last week.
Stay tuned to our social media accounts for upcoming dates for Facebook Live events and future coffee gatherings.
It’s important to me that you stay informed about the work we’re doing, and I truly value your input. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas.
As always, I’m here to listen and serve. I appreciate hearing from you!
I look forward to keeping you updated throughout the session and continuing to work with you for Assembly District 35 and our amazing State.
