Even Trump Can Get It Wrong — And Boy, Did He Get It Wrong

Before you have a meltdown, let me be clear: no publication has written more positive stories about President Trump than Liberty Watch. In fact, the President himself signed a copy of our magazine and told us what a great job we do.

But even allies disagree sometimes, and we couldn’t disagree more strongly with the President’s endorsement in Nevada’s Congressional District 3. So let’s get into it.

Four Republicans are vying for the chance to face Susie Lee in the general election:

·  Tera Anderson

·  Jeff Gunter

·  Aury Nagy

·  Marty O’Donnell

Let’s start with the most unacceptable candidate to Republican voters: Aury Nagy.

This one is simple — he’s not a Republican. Yes, he recently registered as one, but his entire adult life he has been a far-left liberal Democrat. The evidence is in the money. Nagy donated well over $100,000 to Democrats over the past 15 years, including $5,000 to the Kamala Harris Victory Fund and $3,300 to Kamala Harris for President, that’s right there is disqualifying.

Here’s where it gets interesting: just months before launching his Republican campaign, he gave money to Susie Lee — the very Democrat he claims to want to unseat — as well as to Jackie Rosen, Steven Horsford, and the Democratic National Committee.

As Ronald Reagan would say, this man is not our ally; he is our opponent. My inside sources tell me Nagy remains close to Susie Lee, and I know for a fact he funneled $6,600 to Jackie Rosen’s campaign. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like, but it seems obvious that Nagy was placed into this Republican primary to disrupt the outcome of the race.

Which brings me to Jeff Gunter.

Nagy, I believe, was put into this race because Susie Lee viewed Gunter as the strongest candidate against her. If you’ve watched any of the recent Congressional District 3 debates, it’s plain to see that Nagy goes after Gunter relentlessly — doing the bidding of his friend Susie Lee.

So what happened with Jeff? He was in the race, had self-funded his campaign with $750,000, and looked ready to hit the ground running. Then President Trump endorsed another candidate in the district: Marty O’Donnell — more on him in a moment.

After Trump’s endorsement of O’Donnell, Gunter pulled all his money from the campaign — a boneheaded move that left his supporters asking the obvious question: is he in or out? And one thing has become abundantly clear: Trump is not 110% Jeff Gunter. This is now the second time the President has passed on endorsing him.

Marty O’Donnell: Trump’s Pick — But Not the People’s Pick

Now, on to Marty O’Donnell.

He’s a recent transplant to Las Vegas and this is his second run for the seat. A multi-millionaire, O’Donnell lost in the 2024 primary — badly — finishing in fourth place despite outspending his opponents four to one. Let that sink in: he had every financial advantage and still couldn’t close the deal with Republican voters.

Nothing has changed in 2026.

O’Donnell has zero relationship with the grassroots, and the grassroots have zero interest in him. They didn’t support him in 2024, and they’re not supporting him now. When you ask rank-and-file Republican voters about him, the response is remarkably consistent: O’Donnell comes off as cold, unapproachable, and out of touch.

Money can buy a lot of things in politics. Likability isn’t one of them.

Which raises the obvious question: why did President Trump endorse a candidate who couldn’t win his own primary two years ago, who has no grassroots base, and who voters simply don’t connect with? That’s a question worth asking — and one the Republican establishment in Nevada’s Third District is quietly asking right now.

Tera Anderson: The Dark Horse Who Just Might Win It All

Then there’s Tera Anderson.

She is the dark horse in this race — and with every passing day, she’s looking more and more like the best pick to face Susie Lee in the general election.

The grassroots love her. That’s not spin; that’s what you hear on the ground when you talk to real Republican voters in the Third District. She has the enthusiasm, the authenticity, and the organic support that no amount of money can manufacture. In a field dominated by self-funded multi-millionaires — Nagy, O’Donnell, and Gunter are all essentially writing their own campaign checks — Anderson stands apart as the candidate who earned her support the old-fashioned way.

The one question her supporters keep asking is whether she can compete financially against three deep-pocketed opponents who can spend whatever it takes. It’s a fair concern. Money matters in politics, and she’s running against men who treat campaign contributions as personal ATM withdrawals.

But here’s the other side of that argument: O’Donnell already proved that a fat checkbook doesn’t guarantee votes. He outspent the field four to one in 2024 and still finished fourth. Grassroots energy, voter trust, and genuine likability have a value that doesn’t show up on a campaign finance report — and right now, Tera Anderson has all three.

The dark horse is running hard. Don’t count her out.

See For Yourself This Tuesday

But you don’t have to take my word for it.

This Tuesday, the Nevada Republican Club is hosting a debate featuring all four candidates — and you’ll have the chance to make up your own mind.

Here’s some advance insight: on April 21st, the Nevada Young Republicans held a congressional debate. O’Donnell didn’t bother to show up I guess he doesn’t like young people. Nagy, Gunter, and Anderson did — and what unfolded was telling.

Anderson didn’t just win the debate. She dominated it.

While Nagy and Gunter spent the evening attacking each other, Anderson did something neither of them seemed capable of: she talked about the issues. She was so sharp, so prepared, and so clearly the adult in the room that Jeff Gunter — her opponent — acknowledged it out loud. By our count, Gunter said some variation of “Tera’s 100% right” at least nine times during the debate. Nine times. From a rival candidate. That’s not a debate performance — that’s an audition for a concession speech.

I believe you’ll come to the same conclusion on Tuesday.

And maybe — just maybe — something remarkable will happen. Maybe the boys in this race will look at the numbers, look at the grassroots, look at what happened at that April 21st debate, and do what’s best for the party. Step aside. Unite behind Tera Anderson and give Republicans in the Third District a real shot at taking that seat from Susie Lee.

They always tell me the same thing: “All we need to do is win.”

Well, gentlemen — here’s your chance to mean it.
