(Chuck Muth) – Every month, for well over two years now, I have ordered two large sandwich trays from the Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop located at Stewart and Nellis for the monthly right-wing conspiracy meeting of center-right leaders that Citizen Outreach hosts.
And every month I call in the order the day before our meeting, to be picked up at 10:45 a.m. sharp.
That’s $150 per month (plus tip!) for 12 months = $1,800 a year.
Regular customer. Money…in…the…bank. Month after month.
And like clockwork, I called in today to place the same order. But the “sales” gal informed me that they had another sandwich tray order to fill at the same time tomorrow and couldn’t get mine done until 11:00 a.m.
I told her that wouldn’t work…as I needed to pick it up at 10:45 in order to get to my meeting on time.
She said OK…but advised I might have to wait 10 or 15 minutes. Which, um, is the same thing as saying it wouldn’t be ready until 11:00 a.m.
This is insane. As the paying customer it’s not MY job to figure out how to serve the customer and give the customer what they need.
So, thinking maybe this would jolt some common-sense into her head, I said, “Never mind. I’ll just call somebody else.”
The proper response to which should have been, “Oh, no, sir! We’ll figure out how to have it ready for you at 10:45!”
Instead I got: “OK.”
Which means not only won’t they be getting tomorrow’s sale, they won’t be getting ANY more sales.
Buh-bye, $1,800!
Hello, Firehouse Subs.
And some business owners wonder why they go out of business?
