Harry is Bad…but Will GOP Nominee be Any Better?

(Bill Parson) – Nevadans who have been active in the TEA Party, Town Hall and Liberty movements recognize that our great nation remains at risk from many sources. One of these risks is represented by the heated debates during the last ten months concerning the Federal Government’s involvement in Health Care.

Concerned Nevadans have been instrumental in slowing and reducing the pace of the mad rush to nationalize America’s health care by the U.S. House, U.S. Senate, and the Administration. Many across our nation believe that this unconstitutional legislative effort has been killed for now, but we must remain vigilant and ensure that our elected officials do not pull a “midnight raid” on Americans once again.

Ensuring that this bill is killed is imperative, but what next?

As a life-long Conservative Constitutional Republican, I must ask this question: Can we afford to replace Harry Reid with a future U.S. Senator from Nevada who may be willing to negotiate, to compromise or trade favor on this type of legislation; in essence, to enter negotiations that subvert our Constitution?

Many in the Nevada U.S. Senate race seem to imply that they believe the current bill is bad because it was crafted by the Democrat Party; the flip side of the argument being that one crafted by a Republican majority in the House and Senate would be better. I must fundamentally disagree with this philosophy. If it is unconstitutional now, why would we consider it constitutional if the party in power changes?

Jack Norcross, a highly respected member of the Ely, Nevada community and lifetime Democrat, created and disseminated across the entire city of Ely signs that read ANY BODY BUTT HARRY REID. The sentiment is catchy and drives attention to the dramatic need for replacing our current Senator; but we, as citizens, must ask a far more pertinent question: Whom will we select to replace Harry Reid and what values will that person use to represent Nevadans in Washington, D.C.?

I propose that the answer should be:

• Strict adherence to the U.S. Constitution in all matters
• Dedication to restoring state sovereignty to each of the 50 states
• A personal commitment to protecting liberty and freedom for the individual citizen
• Sound fiscal policy that does not advocate freezing the federal government, but rather dramatically reducing it in size and cost

Nevadans have the right choice available to them, but the choice is ultimately yours to make on June 8th, 2010. You will decide on June the 8th, 2010 what values to replace Harry Reid with. I ask that you vote for me, Bill Parson, as your choice to replace Harry Reid.

(Mr. Parson is a Republican candidate for the United States Senate in Nevada)
